CITY OF LAKEVILLE
DAKOTA COUNTY, MINNESOTA
RESOLUTION
Date February 16, 1993 Resolution 93-34
Motion By Mulvihill Seconded By sindt
RESOLUTION OPPOSING THE EXTENSION AND REALIGNMENT
OF SCOTT COUNTY ROAD 74 TO CONNECT WITH THE
FUTURE INTERCHANGE AT I-35 AND DAKOTA COUNTY ROAD 46
WHEREAS, the draft Scott County Transportation Plan describes potential
east-west routes through Scott County to connect with I-35 in the City of Lakeville;
and
• WHEREAS, the Scott County 74 roadway alignment to connect with the future I-35
interchange and County Road 46 would further divide the Murphy-Hanrehan Regional Park
and increase noise and air pollution and adversely impact wildlife habitat and the
scenic character of the park; and
WHEREAS, the proposed roadway corridor through Lakeville to the future
interchange of I-35 and County Road 46 is an environmentally sensitive area due to
existing large lot subdivisions, rolling hills, scenic bluffs, woods, wetlands, and a
lake, and building the roadway would destroy the rural character of the area; and
WHEREAS, in 1981 the City of Lakeville established the Municipal Urban Service
Area (MUSA) and excluded from it the area west of the future interchange of I-35 and
County Road 46 because of the existing large lots and the desire to protect this
environmentally sensitive area from disruptive urban development; and
WHEREAS, an alternative exists by extending County Road 21 from Prior Lake to
the I-35 interchange at 185th Street West.
NOW, TMEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lakeville:
1. The Lakeville City Council opposes the extension and realignment of Scott
County Road 74 to connect with the future Dakota County Road 46 interchange
at I-35.
•
c
2. The Lakeville City Council supports the extension of Scott County Road 21
from Prior Lake to the I-35 interchange at 185th Street West.

District.
