HomeMy WebLinkAbout91-066 RESOLDTION 91-66 WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Lakeville unanimously endorses the candidacy of Council Member Betty Sindt for the Board of Directors of the League of Minnesota Cities; and WHEREAS Betty Sindt has been a City Council Member since 1980. She currently serves as Acting Mayor and chairs the Housing and. Redevelopment Authority and has served on the City Hall Planning Committee, the Personnel Committee and the Police Committee. She represents Lakeville on the ALF Ambulance Service Board of Directors, where she serves as chair, and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Community Action Council; and WHEREAS Betty Sindt has been an active member of the Lakeville Community. She has served on the Minnesota Displaced Homemakers Advisory Committee and the Governor's Judicial Recommendation Committee. She has successfuly lobbied with manufactured housing organizations for changes in law to protect residents; and WIiEREAS Betty Sindt has been active in solid waste management issues. She has been a member of Metropolitan Waste Management Advisory Committee since 1983 and currently serves as chair and is a member of the Dakota County Waste Management Advisory Committee; and WHEREAS Betty Sindt has been active in transportation issues. She serves on the Regional Transit Board Local Elected • Officials Advisory Committee and the Lakeville Senior Citizens/Dakota Area Resources and Transportation for Seniors, Inc., Bus Comnmittee. She also has served on the Regional Transit Board Exurban Committee, the Dakota County Exurban Transportation Subcommittee and the I-35 Board of Commissioners; and WIiEREpiS Betty Sindt has been active in regional governmental groups. In the League of Minnesota Cities, she was appointed in November 1990 to fill an opening on the Board of Directors and currently chairs the Conference Planning Committee. She also has served on the LMC Government Structures • and General Legislative, Planning, Budget and Land Use, Energy, Environment and Transportation Committees. She also has moderated sessions at the Newly-Elected Officials Conference; and WHEREAS Betty Sindt has been active in Minnesota Women. in City Government. She has served as president, vice president, secretary, director and chair of the nominating committee. She. has worked with Government Training. to produce a training seminar for advisory committees, assisted with planning a pre-conference evening session for 10 years and participated in the Faculty-Hamline University Women in Government Seminar in June 1990; and • -2- Y • • NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the City Council enthusiastically supports Betty Sindt's candidacy and encourages the LMC nominating committee to give due consideration to her application.
