EDC members are encouraged to attend the State of the City which is being held on the same day. Additional information on this event is listed below. The next meeting of the EDC will be June 26t". State of the Citv Address The State of the City Address will be held on May 22"d at the new Holiday Inn and Suites starting at 11:30 a.m. EDC members that are interested in attending but have not RSVP'd, please contact Judi Hawkins at City Hall at 985-4403 no later than Monday, May 21~`. UDdate on Economic Impact Studv and Housing Needs Assessment Study The City Council at their May 7"' meeting approved retaining the firm of Springsted Inc. to assist the City in the preparation of an Economic Impact Study. Springsted is the City's fiscal consultant and has previously assisted the City in the completion of the Interchange Financing Study and the Financial Tools Program. A copy of the report to the City Council and the proposed scope of work to be preformed by Springsted are attached. Staff will provide updates to the EDC on this project as it progresses. UDdate on Downtown Development Guide Implementation Plan Staff plans to review with the City Council the feedback that has been received on the proposed 2007 Implementation Plan at the ]une Council Work Session. We will be able to provide an update to the EDC at the ]une 26"' meeting. Workforce and Senior Housing Needs Studv The Dakota County CDA will be considering the City's request to utilizing CDBG funds to complete this study at their June 12"' meeting. Approval of this request will allow the City to enter into an agreement with Ma~eld Research to complete this study. The EDC previously reviewed the scope of work for this project prepared by Maxfield and offered suggestions for changes and additions to the proposed scope. Business Telecommunications Technology Task Force (BTTTFl The BTTTF has been meeting on a monthly basis since March. The May meeting consisted of presentations by the incumbent providers Charter and Frontier. An update on the status of the work of the Task Force will be provided at the June EDC meeting. 2007 March Building Permit Reuort The City issued building permits through the end of April with a total valuation of $49,891,782. This compares to a total of $49,290,781 during the same period in 2006. Included in this valuation were commercial and industrial permits with a total valuation of $17,051,600. This compares to a total valuation of $3,570,000 during the same period in 2006. The City issued permits for 68 single family homes through April with a total valuation of $18,000,000. This compares to 100 single family home permits during the same period in 2006 with a total valuation of $29,558,955. The City issued permits for 42 townhome and condo units through April which compares to 69 townhome and condo permits issued during the same period in 2006.
