HomeMy WebLinkAbout90-100 f CITY OF LAKEVILLE RESOLUTION DATE September 17, 1990 RESOLUTION NO. 90-100 MOTION BY Harvey SECONDED BY Sndt RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING POLICY FOR THE DISPOSAL OF BUILDING PERMIT:$LANS WHEREAS, the City of Lakeville has:;adopted the State G+~~e~al Records Retention Schedule for Cities dated November, 1985;'`~~,d WHEREAS, the Records Retention Schedule requires the Building Inspection Department to retain all building permit plans on a permanent basis; and WHEREAS, the Building Inspection:department is currently microfilming all commercial, industrial,."nstitutional~and multi-family construction plans; and WHEREAS, at the current construction pace, the cost to microfilm single family home plans would be approximately $1,OQQ per year; and WHEREAS, the need to reference approved residential building plans takes place typically during construction or in the first year of occupancy; and WHEREAS, the Certificate of Sutvey is maintained in each property file on a permanent basil, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLV~~` ~nthat the City ~of Lakeville requests permission by the Minnesota"Iepartment of Administration to amend the retention schedule for building permit plans as follows; 1. New single family residential plans shall k~e destroyed one (1j year after a Certificate of t~upancy is %ssued. 2. Residential improvement plays shall be destroyed one (g}. year after a final inspection of the work is approved. 3. All commercial, industrial, institutional and multi-family construction plans shall conti~?ue to be retained permanently.
