RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE STATE OF N~NNESOTA
"DRUG-FREE SCHOOL AND PARK ZONES ACI"'
AND PROCLAIMING MAY 7-11, 1990 AS DRUG AWARENESS WEEK

irifHEREA.S, Minnesota's drug .problem is serious. It continues to
have devastating and tragic consequences for our citizens. The City of
Lakeville is committed to fighting drugs through education and
enforcemPalt to the best of the cotmnunity's abilities; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lakeville continues to be supportive of
drug education programs and innovative ideas supporting drug awareness;
and
WHEREAS, the City has contributed financially to several drug
prevention and awareness programs in conjunction with the local school
districts; and
W~IERE',AS, the new drug free school and park zone legislation
enhances existing drug prevention, awareness and enforcement programs.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Lakeville to support the State's effort in designating our schools and
parks as drug free zones, and proclaims the week of May 7, 1990 through
May 11, 1990 Drug Free Zone Awareness Week.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Lakeville, Minnesota, this 7th day of May 1990.
