RESOLUTION

RESOLUTION ENDORSING CANDIDACY OF
COUNCILMEMBER SINDT TO THE RAPID TRANSIT BOARD
WHEREAS, the legislature approved a bill to reorganize the RTB with
expanded board membership; and
WHEREAS, said membership shall include local elected officials
appointed by the Metropolitan Council by district; and
WHEREAS, the duties of the RTB are to:
• Foster effective delivery of existing transit services and encour-
age innovation in transit service;
Increase transit service in suburban areas;
Prepare implementation and financial plans for the metropolitan
transit system;
Set policies and standards for implementing the transit policies
and programs of the state and the transit policies of the Metro-
politan Council in the Metropolitan Area;
Advise and work cooperatively with local governments, regional rail
authorities, and other public agencies, transit providers, develop-
ers and other persons in order to coordinate all transit modes and
to increase the availability of transit services;
Conduct transit research and evaluation; and
Administer state and metropolitan transit subsidies; and
WHEREAS, Lakeville City Councilmember Betty Sindt is uniquely
qualified to serve as District G Board representative.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lakeville City Council
unanimously endorses Councilmember Betty Sindt's candidacy for the
Regional Transit Board and attaches her resume to confirm her qualifica-
tions.
ADOPTED by the Lakeville City Council this 17th day of July, 1989.
