HomeMy WebLinkAbout89-051 CITY OF LAKEVILLE RESOLUTION Date April 17, 1989 Resolution No. 89-51 Motion by Sindt Seconded by Harvey NATIONAL CONSUMERS WEEK 1989 PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, The week beginning April 23, Nineteen Hundred and Eight-Nine is the eight annual National Consumers Week; and WHEREAS, the 1989 theme "Consumers Open Markets" acknowledges the powerful role consumers plan in our nation's economy; and WHEREAS, a major function of our competitive free market system is to satisfy a consumer demand; and WHEREAS, consumers should have certain rights in these markets including the right to information, choice, safety, education, and to be heard; and WHEREAS, ideal fairness for the consumer is achieved when educators, business, government, and consumers work together to insure equity, increased competition, and safety in our free market economy; and WHEREAS, National Consumers Week promotes consumer programs by both the public and private sector; encourages dialogue between consumers, business, and governments; and broadens the scope of consumer awareness. NOW, THEREFORE, I, DUANE ZAUN, MAYOR OF LAKEVILLE, MINNESOTA, DO HEREBY DESIGNATE APRIL 23 - 29, 1989, IN THE CITY OF LAKEVILLE, AS CONSUMERS WEEK.
