HomeMy WebLinkAbout89-015 CITY OF LAKEVILLE RESOLUTION Date January 17, 1989 Resolution No. 89-15 Motion by Harvey Seconded by Sindt RESOLUTION REGARDING SEVERANCE PAY UPON TERMINATION OF EMPLOYMENT 1. Severance pay shall be paid to permanent employees based upon the following schedule. a. After 5 years of full-time service, 35% of the employee's unused sick leave, up to a maximum of 960 hours. b. After 10 years of full-time service, 45% of the employee's unused sick leave, up to a maximum of 960 hours. c. After 15 years of full-time service, 55% of the employee's unused sick leave, up to a maximum of 960 hours. 2. Severance pay under this section shall-not be granted to an employee who is discharged for cause by employer. 3. Severance pay under this section shall be granted to an employee involuntarily laid off by the City who meets the service require- ments set forth in (1) above. 4. Severance pay shall be paid to the beneficiary of an eligible employee. 5. Only service with the City of Lakeville shall be counted toward the time required for a person to be eligible. Severance pay is to be based on the employee's hourly wage rate on the date of employment termination based on the wage schedule in effect on that date. Employee must leave the service in good standing and give the employer at least 14 days written notice of termination. 6. Employees covered by a collective bargaining agreement shall be covered by said collective bargaining agreement in regard to severance paq policy. 7. Sick leave accrued while classified as a part-time employee will not be paid as severance pay upon termination. . 8. Permanent part-time employees will receive severance pay upon termination based on the unused sick leave accrued while classified as a full time employee.
