HomeMy WebLinkAbout85-014 CITY OF LAKEVILLE RESOLUTION Date Februar 4, 1985 Resolution No. 85-14 Motion by Sindt Seconded by Enright RESOLUTION SETTING REQUIREMENTS FOR CITY STAFF WHO USE CITY VEHICLES FOR TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM WORK AND/OR PRIVATE PERSONAL USE WHEREAS, the U.S. Internal Revenue Service has published regu- lations for tax treatment of employer supplied vehicles for transporta- tion to and from work and for personal use as mandated by the Tax Reform Act of 1984; .and • WHEREAS, the City Council has set the following value and reporting of the use of city vehicles by employees for transportation to and from work, and for personal use. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: 1. The value which the city shall report to the I.R.S. for vehicles used strictly for commuting shall be as established by the I.R.S. rules. Z. Employees shall be responsible for keeping mileage records suffi- cient to show the monthly usage of the vehicle for city use and personal use, and a monthly mileage log shall be submitted to the Finance Director on a form supplied by the City. 3. Employees shall reimburse the employer for the cost of fuel for transportation to and from work and personal use of the vehicle when • the fuel is supplied by the City. 4. The employer shall determine the fair market value of the vehicle, • under I.R.. S. rules, and include the fair value of the personal use of the vehicle for commuting and authorized personal use as compen- sation on the employee's Form W2. 5. These requirements are effective January 1, 1985. APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Lakeville this 4th day of February, 1985.
