RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING. AN EMPLOYEE COMPENSATION
PLAN AND PRpVIDING POLICY ON THE ADMINISTRATION
OF THE .PLAN FOR THE CITY OF LAKEVILLE
WHEREAS, the City Council has received and adopted a compen-
sation plan in 1978. for various employee positions; and
.WHEREAS, the plan provides for equitable pay ranges by
position based on job content-evaluation, wage comparisons with similar
private and ,public employees, and the City's ability and competitive
positions in attracting and retaining employees; and
WHEREAS, City Council policy guidelines are necessary for
fair and effective administration of the compensation plan..
NOW., THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
I: The following positions and pay ranges are approved
effective January. 1, 1953.

II. Salary-.and Wage Administration Pc~licyq
1. The salary of an employee whose current salary exceeds
the maximum of the salary ..range shall be frozen until
such time as the`City Council raises the range to provide
for additional salary-opportunity.
2. The salary of an employee whose current salary is below
the minimum of the position range wily be brought to at
least the minimum upon implementation of the increases.

3. The City Administrator shall be responsible for the
effective, fair and impartial evaluation of all employees
in the above positions, and shall direct and recommend
the performance evaluation for each employee under this
plan to the Personnel Committee of. the City Couneil~.

S. New employees for positions not previously filled shall
be recommended to the City Council for approval by the
City Administrator, and al]. appointments to positions
under the exempt classification shall receive the approval
of the City Council.
III. Severance Pay: Severance pay shall he granted to a full-time
employee based on the following schedule and conditions:
After five years of employment: 30~ of. the employee's
unused sick-Ieave.
After l0 .years of employment: ~U~ of the employee's unused
sick leave.
After 15 years of employment: 50~ of the employee's unused
sick leave.
Only service with the City of Lakeville for permanent full-
time erployment shall bca counted for the time required to
qualify for severance pay. The severance pay rate is to be
the salary of the employee in effect at the date of termination.
The employee must leave the employment and service to the
.City in good standing and give the employer two weeks written
notice of termination.
IV. Hospitalization-Medical-Life Insurance: The employer will
pay any increase in the employee insurance cost -19&3;
and 75g of any increase in the dependent insurance cost.
The employee shall be responsible for $16.85 plus 25~ of any
increase in the dependent cost after January 1, 1983..
APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Lakeville,
Minnesota ,'this 3rd day of January , 1983.
