HomeMy WebLinkAbout83-006 CITY OF LAKEVILLE .RESOLUTION Date January 3, 1983 Resolution No. 83-6 Motion by Nelson Seconded by Sindt RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A WAGE SCHEDULE BY POSITION AND PROVIDING POLICY ON THE ADMINISTRATION OF THE SCHEDULE WHEREAS, the City Council has received and adopted a compen- cation report in 1978 far various employee positions; and WHEREAS, .the report was based. on job content analysis by position, and comparison of other public and `private employment wage rates for this. area.-and similar positions; and WHEREI-1S, the report. recommended wage rates that were com- petitive'and within the ability of the City to pay; and WHEREAS, the establishment of a wage schedule by position will provide for, effective admnistratan of a cl"far-wage plan for employees. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT'RESOLVED: I.- The following wage schedule by position is established effective January-l, 1983. Wage Administratan Policy: 1. New employees may be placed on the wage schedule for any position at a step that reflects. relevant education and experience for the position, in accordance with budget _appropriatons by .the City Council and approval of the City :Administrator. 2. The salary-of an emplayee whose current salary is below the minimum of the position range ,will be brought to at least the minimum upon implementation of the increases. $p/~, 3. The City Administrator shall be responsible for the eft-ective, fair and impartial evaluation of all employees. in the above positions, and shall direct and recommend the per - formance evaluation for each emgloyee under this plan to the Personnel Committee df the City Council. 4. 5. New employees for positions not previously filled shall be recommended to the City Council for approval by the City Administrator, and all appointments to positions under the exempt classification shall receive the approval of the City Council. III. Severance Pay: Severance pay shall. be granted to a full-time. employee based on the following schedule and conditions: After five years of employment: 30~ of the employee's unused sick leave. After 10 years of employment: ~40~ of the employee's unused sick leave. After 15 years of employment: 50~ of the employee's. unused sick leave. Only service with the City of Lakeville .for permanent full- time employment shall be counted for the time required to qualify for severance pay. The severance pay rate is to be the hourly wage of the employee in effect at the date of termination. The employee must leave the employment and service to the City in good standing and give the employer two weeks written notice of termination. IV. Hospitalization-Medical-Life Insurance: The employe r_ will gay any increase in the emgloyee insurance cost during 1383, and 75~ of any increase in the dependent insurance cost. The employee shall be responsible for $16.85 plus 25~ of .any increase in the dependent cost after January 1, 1983.
