RE SOLUTION. NO. 82-29
RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A CITIZENS TASK FORCE
FOR THE STUDY OF THE NEED FOR AND
ALTERNATIVES FOR A NEVd POLICE DEPARTMENT
BUILDING FOR LAKEVILLE
WHEREAS,~the City Council believes there is a need for the
citizens of Lakeville to study the needs for a new police department
building to serve the community; and
WHEREAS, the City Council believes that a citizens task
force will assist the council in determining the need for, and alter-
natives for, a new police department building; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to have the support and
acceptance of as many citizens as possible to accomplish the task of
determining the alternatives for improving the capabilities of the
Lakeville Police Department; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to form a citizens task
force to study the need for, and alternatives for, and related issues
pertaining to a new police department building,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
1. {A) That a Citizens Task Force for the purpose of
studying the need for, and alternatives for, and related issues per-
taining to a new police department building for Lakeville is hereby
established.
(B) That said Citizens Task Force shall consist of
an Executive Committee and various subcommittees.
(C) That said Executive Committee shall consist of
the following citizens who have volunteered for the same:
Glenn Nord Clarence Sindt
Jerry Clay Maynard Johnson
Steve Sizer Vic Kohlnhofer
Bob Cloutier Stan Whittingham
Ken Larkin Maryann Curry
Nick Wolf
(D) That said Executive Committee shall elect from
amongst its midst officers and shall from time to time set forth the
operating rules by which the Citizens Task Force shall proceed and
operate.

(E) That said Executive Committee .shall select members
of the general citizenry on a voluntary basis to serve on subcom-
mittees as set forth below.
(F) That the purpose of said Executive Committee shall
be to supervise and coordinate the efforts of said subcommittees and
to coordinate the efforts of the Citizens. Task Force with the City
Council of the City. of Lakeville.
(G) That the purpose of the subcommittees shall be to
address the issues as set forth in the attached Exhibit "A" as well
as other issues. that are deemed relevant to the same by the members
of .said subcommittees or by the said Executive Committee.
2. That said Citizens Task Force shall keep minutes of its
meetings., make periodic reports to the City Council, and shall com-
plete its initial study and recommendations by a date selected by said
Executive Committee, said date to be as early as practicable.
3. That the City Administrator and Chief. of Police are
herein authorized to provide all appropriate staff support and
assistance to the Citizens Task Force.
4. That the City Council recognizes that at a later date,
assuming that the Citizens Task Force recognizes that a new or
different police structure is needed, that there will probably be a
need by said Citizens Task Force to obtain City funds for (1) the
retaining of an .architect(s) to .perform preliminary architectural
work through the preliminary planning stage, (Z) the retaining of
an appraiser(s) to appraise various potential building sites, and
(3) the retaining of an engineer(s) to evaluate certain engineering
needs of any proposed building and/or sites and that the Council will
consider said financial requests upon the submission of the same.
