RESOLUTION REGARDING CHANGE OF POSTAL ADDR_FSSES
~nTHEREAS, the U.S. Postal Service has proposed changing mailing
addresses of the northeast portion of Lakeville including the Valley
Park and Countryview Mobile Home Park .from Rosemount and Farmington
to Apple Valley; and
WHEREAS, the U.S. Postal Service has failed to urovide a
Lakeville mailing address f_or these residents of the City of Lakeville; and
WHEREAS, this situation continues to cause problems with
citizen identity and further has caused unnecessary delays in the delivery
of emergency services including police and... fire protection, causes
needless inconvenience and expense and is not in the best interest. of
the citizens; and
WHEREAS, over 6,10® Lakeville residents are now adversely
affected; and
G7HEREAS, the number of affected residents will continue to
grow as further planned development takes place in the area; and
WHEREAS, this is a needless burden on the citizens and City
of Lakeville.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Lakeville
requests the U.S. Postal Service immediately stop planning to change
the postal address of_ these affected Lakeville citizens from Rosemount
and Farmington to Apple Valley and take immediate action to provide
all citizens of Lakeville with a Lakeville mailing address.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of Lakeville, Minnesota,
this 2nd day of February , 1981.
