RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A WAGE SCHEDULE BY POSITION AND
PROVIDING'POLICY -0N THE ADMINISTRATION OF'THE.SCHEDULE'
WHEREAS, the City Council has received. and adopted a comnen-
sationreport,n 1978 for various employee positions; and.
WHEREAS, the report. was based. on job content. analysis by position,
and comparison of other public and private employment wage rates for
this area and similar positions; and
WHEREAS, the .report recommended wage rates that were compet-
itive and .within the ability. of the City `to pay; and.
WHEREAS, the establishment of a wage schedule«~"y position will
provide for effective administration of ~a'clear wage plan for .employees.
NOW® THEREFORE,'::. BE IT RESOLVED:
I. The following wage schedule. by ,`position is established
effective January 1.,:.1982,

- II. Wage Administration Policy
1'. _New employees may be placed on the wage schedule for
.any position at a step that. reflects relevant education
and .experience for the: position., in accordance with
budget appropriations by the City Council and approval
of the.-City Administrator.

2. Thee salary o~ an employee whose .current ..salary is
below-the mnimum'of the. position range will be
brought to at least the minimum uponmplementation
of the increases.
3. The.. City Administrator shall be responsible. for the
effective, fair and impartial evaluation of all "employees
in the above positions, and shall direct and recommend
'the performance-evaluation for each employee under
this plan to the Personnel Committee of the City. Council.
4. The evaluation and pay of an employee shall be.'reviewed
and approved by the Personnel Committee of, the City
Council,-and an employee may appeal the recommendation
of the administrator to the committee. The committee's
decision shall be final..
5. New employees for positions not previously, filled shall
be recommended to the City Council for approval by
the City Administrator, and all appointments to positions
under the exempt ..classification shall receive the
approval of the City. Council.
III. Severance Pay; Severance Pay. shall be granted to a full:-
,'time employee based on `the following schedule and .conditions:.
After five years of employment: 30% of the employee's
unused sick leave.
..After 10 years: of employment: 40% of the employee's
unused sick leave.
After 15 years of employment: 50% bf the employee's
unused sick leave.
Only service with the Cit_~ of Lakeville for permanent
full-time employment ,sha'_:1 be counted- for. the, time required
to qualify Por seve-~:,wnce pay. The severance pay .rate is
to be the hourly wage ~f the employee in effect at the date
of termination.
The employee moist leave the employment and service to the
City in good standing and give the employer two weeks
written notice of termination.
IV. Hospitalization-Medical-Life Insurance: The employer wi l
pay any ncrease'in'the employee insurance cost during 198.2,
and 75% of any `increase in the dependent insurance :cost..:
The employee shall be responsible for $16.85 plus 25% of
any .increase in:the dependent-cost after January 1, 1982.
