HomeMy WebLinkAbout80-008 4 CITY OF LAKEVILLE RESOLUTION Date January 2, 1980 Resolution No. 80-8 Motion by Zaun Seconded by Nelson RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING AN EMPLOYEE COMPENSATIOtV PLAN AND PROVIDING POLICY ON THE ADMINISTRATION OF THE PLAN FOR THE CITY OF LAKEVILLE WHEREAS, the City Council has received and adopted a compensation plan in 1978 for various employee positions; and WHEREAS, the .plan provides for equitable pay ranges by position based on job content evaluation, wage comparisons with similar private and public employees, and the City's ability and competitive positions in attracting and retaining employees; and WHEREAS, the City Council deems it necessary to adjust the salary ranges of the plan; and WHEREAS, City Council policy guidelines are necessary for fair and effective administration of the compensation plan. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that: I. The following positions and pay ranges are approved effective January 1, 1980. Salary and Wage Administration Policy 1. The salary of an employee whose current salary exceeds the maximum of the salary range shall be frozen until such time as the City Council raises the range to provide for additional salary opportunity. 2. The salary of an employee whose current salary is below the minimum of the position range will be brought to at least the minimum upon implementation of the increases. 3. The City Administrator shall be responsible for the effective, fair and impartial evaluation of all employees in the above positions, and shall direct and recommend the performance evaluation for each employee under this plan to the Personnel Committee of the City Council. 4. The evaluation and pay of an employee shall be re- viewed and approved by the Personnel Committee of the City Council, and an employee may appeal the recommendation of the Administrator to the Committee. The Committee's decision shall be final. 5. New employees for positions not previously filled shall be recommended to the City Council for approval by the City Administrator, and all appointments to positions under the exempt classification shall receive the approval of the City Council.
