HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-17-69 VILLAGE OF LAKEVILLE COUNCIL MEETING FEBRUARY l1~,1969 Item 1 The meeting was called to order by Mayor Aronson with tYiako, Jensen, Sullivan and Taft present. Item 2 Sullivan made a motion seconded by Jensen to accept the Village bills. All 4 for. h1otion carried. Item 3 Jensen made a motion seconded by Taft to accept the Liquor Store .bills. All for. Motion.carried. Item 4 The clerk was instructed to write to Senator Conzemius and Representative Walter Klaus that the Lakeville Council favors House file #60 and senate file # 518. Item 5 The clerk was instructed to bill Elko: and New Market for payment. Item 6 Mako made a motion seconded by Jensen to send the clerk to the Conference for Municipal Clerks. All fora Motion carried. Item 7 Taft made a motion seconded by Jensen to appoint the clerk deputy treasurer. All for. Motion carried. Item 8 Walter King, Jr's Justice of the Peace report was reviewed by the council. Item 9 Jensen made a motion seconded by Taft to order a file cabinet with a lock on each drawer for the use of the different committees. All for.. Motion carried. Item 10 f+fako made a motion seconded by Sullivan to authorize the village attorney to proceed with the condemnation suit against Earl Hohag for land which is needed for the water reservoir at Valley Park and authorizing Bob Rasene to get a survey of the site.' All 4 for. Motion. carried. Item 11 Bids for the deep well were closed and read by Mr. Rosene at 8:30 P.M. The bids were as follows: Layne-Minnesota 5% bid bond Base bid 22,056. McCarthy Well Co. 5% 21,435. Thein Well Co. 5% " 24,308.. Bergerson-Caswell, Inc.. 5% 23,454/ E. H. Renner & Sons. 5% 20,461. Keya Well Drilling 5% 23-,993. Mueller Bros. cert. Ck. $1,200. 22,880. Taft made a motion seconded by Mako to authorize the clerk to return- the certified check and refer the bids to Sob Rosene for tabulation and return as soon as possible. All for. Motion carried. The check was returned to Meeller Bros. that evening as the representative was in the audience. Item 12 Taft moved to continue the meeting until 7:30 P.M. the 18th. Sullivan seconded. All for. lyiotion carried. Continuation of Meeting of Feb. 17, 1969 Item 1 The meeting was called to order by Mayor Aronson arith Mako, Sullivan and "faft present. Item Z Mako made a motion seconded by Sullivan to have Leo Aronson purchase a steam cleaner~'and that the Village reimburse Mr. Bronson. All 3 for. Motion carried.~for the Village Item 3 Taft moved to aarard the bid for the well at Valley Park to E. H. Renner and Sons. Mako seconded. All 3 for. Motion carried. Renner was low bidder with a bid of $20,461. Item 4 Taft made a motion seconded by Sullivan to have Pat Farrell take care of all the legal technicalities re the well. All 3 for. Motion carried. Item 5 Sullivan reported that he had received calls that someone was dumping sewage near Maple Island. This matter was to be turned over to Pat Farrell for disposition. Item 6 Mako made a motion seconded by Taft to award the building of the council table to the Lakeville Cabinet Shop for the price of $510 minus $80 if the formica is furnished by the Village. All 3 for a Motion carried. Item 7 Mbko moved to instruct the treasurer to place the following monies in 90 day Savings Certificates. $1,800 for the Orchard Lake Survey $9,000 from Park - $5,000 from '62 Bond $1,400 from '66 Bond. Taft seconded the motion. All 3 for.. Motion carried. Item 8 Mako moved to instruct the treasurerto close out the equipment fund savings account which amounts to $204..73. Sullivan seconded-the motion. All 3 for. Motion carried. Item 9 Geo. Nioberg appeared before the council with plans for a new restaurant to be built on the corner acrdss from the liquor store. Nlr. Baum and Mr. Nesbitt archiaects explained the plans.which must be state approved before being built. It was decided to publish a notice for zoning change which will come before the Planning Commission on the 13th of h1arch. Item 10 Walter King, Jr. appeared before the council with some recommendations for keeping the bad checks at the liquor store at a minimum. Some of these were that each person vrho cashes a check initial same. that driver's license nrs be noted, that no two party checks be cashed unless the parties a re local and that no out of state checks be cashed. Item 11 Sullivan made a motion seconded by Taft that the minutes of the Feb. 10, 1969 meeting be accepted as read. All 3 for. Motion carried. Item 12 Sullivan made a motion seconded by Taft to adjourn. Motion carried. Robert Rosene and the Village Clerk opened and closed the bids.
