RESOLUTION NO. 211
RESOLUTION SETTING COMPENSATION AND REIMBURSEMENT
RATES FOR FIREFIGHTERS
WHEREAS; volunteer firefighters are required to attend various training sessions
and to complete .various firefighter skills and education courses in order to retain their
active status: and
WHEREAS; the Fire Department has determined that a nominal fee should paid to
firefighters to defray the costs of means and transportation while attending skills and
education courses; and
WHEREAS; the City has determined that a nominal fee should also be paid to
firefighters to reimburse them for expenses incurred in responding to calls.
THEREFORE; It shall be resolved by the City Council of the City of Lakeville that
effective January 1, 2008, all regular and probationary firefighters shall be paid the
following fees for approved training and conference attendance:
a) $18.00 per 2-4 hour training session for regular scheduled training;
b) $18.00 per 2-4 hour training session for supplemental firefighting training
courses;
c) $18.00 per 2-4 hour training session for specialized water. rescue and
hazardous material training;
d) $36.00 per 5+ hour training; and
e) $36.00 per day for approved conferences
f) Probationary firefighters will be paid at 50% of the rates described in
subsections a-e above. Upon successful completion of the probationary period,
the firefighter will be compensated for the remaining 50%.
g) Payment for training and conference attendance shall be made biannually in
January and July.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lakeville that
effective January 1, 2008, all firefighters shall be compensated at a nominal fee for each
call they respond to as follows:
a) All regular firefighters shall be paid $9.50 for each call to which they respond;
b) Probationary firefighters shall be paid at 50% of the regular firefighter rate, or
$4.75 for each call Upon successful completion of the probationary period, the
firefighter will be compensated for the remaining 50% for each call to which they
responded; and
c) Firefighters who are also City employees will only be paid for calls if a call
begins or ends outside to the employee's normal work hours, or if a call begins
or ends during the employee's regularly scheduled lunch break.
d) Payment for call response shall be made biannually in January and July.
