RESOLUTION NO: 07-373
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT
TO PLACE LOAD RESTRICTIONS ON THE FOLLOWING ROADS
WHEREAS, pursuant to State Statute, local authorities may impose restrictions
as to the load of vehicles to be operated on roadways under their jurisdiction whenever
such roadways, by reason of deterioration, rain, snow, or other climatic conditions, may
be seriously damaged or destroyed unless permissible loads are reduced, and
WHEREAS, winter and spring weather conditions make certain City roads and
streets subject to damage from heavy vehicles, and
WHEREAS, specific vehicles operating in accordance with state statute to
service utilities, transport students, respond to emergencies, or remove trash and
recyclables are .exempt, within specified limits, from. load restrictions, and
WHEREAS, load restrictions are authorized to go into effect in the same
timeframe as the Minnesota Department of Transportation, and
WHEREAS, all streets in Lakeville, unless otherwise posted, have a 5-ton load
limit and exceeding posted load restrictions may be allowed in cases involving public
health and safety.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that load restrictions are authorized to
be placed as listed, by the Operations and Maintenance Department, and remain in
effect until the Minnesota Department of Transportation authorizes removal of load
restrictions.
