Roll call ;was taken. 'Present: Councilmembers Nelson, Zaun, Sindt and Enright.. Absent: Mayor Lekson. Also present: Roger Knutson, City Attorney; Darrell Schneider and Frank Kriz Consulting'City Engineers; James Robinette, Public 4~orks Director; Dennis Feller, Finance Director." Mr. Zaun read Mayor Gordon Lekson°s letter'of resignation. Pdr. Zaun also reviewed items to be added under other business. 81.:449. Motion was .made by Sndt, seconded by Nelson to approve the minutes of the September 8, 1981 council meeting. .Roll call was taken on the motion. Ayes,. Zaun, Sindt, Enright & Nelsons 81.450 Motion was made by Nelson,. seconded biz Sindt to approve the claims .for payment as presented in the amount"of $717,933.41, and to approve ,~?ayments to Sandmark Construction, Inc. and`Minriesota DNR in-amounts of .$41,870.54 and $92..00 respectively. No: 80-13. 81.451 Motion was made by Nelson, seconded by Sindt=to approve payment for easements of $764.00 to Bernard G. and Harbara J. Stahowak; $50.00 to .Morel J. and Rachel:L. Helkenn; $225.00 to Kathleen Palmeri; and $340,00 to Karl F, and Aneliese Hummel. Roll call was taken on the motion. No. 81-70 approving the location.-of the new~fire station for the; polling place-foreprecinct~one, located at the northeast corner of Holyoke.. and 202nd Street. Roll call was taken on the motion.; Ayes, Nelson, ..Zaun., Sindt ~ Enright. 5 81.461 Motion was made by Nelson, seconded by Sindt:to xeceive the police chief°s report concerning the intersection. of 167th Street and Gerdine for approval of the installation..of a four-way stop sign and universal playground' signs atr he corners of 167th Street and Gerdine,-and`also to review the feasibility.. of a three-way stop at that location. Roll call was taken on the. motion. Ayes, Zaun,-Sindt, Enright &.Nelson. 81.462 Motion. was made by Nelson, seconded by Sindt to adopt Resolution No. 81- 71 vacating Hughe Avenue south from 207th Street to 208th Street .and pant of 208th .:Street. Roll call was taken on the motion, Ayes, Sindt, Enright, Nelson & Zaun. 81.463 Motion was made by Nelson, seconde~l'by Sindt to approve the purchase of hose drying :equipment for the, new fire station in the amount of $9,202.00 from T2innesota Fire. Roll call was taken on the motion.- Ayes, Enright, Nelson, Zaun & Sindt. 81.464 Motion was made by Enright; seconded by Nelson to table action on a resolutionauthorzng the issuance of industrial revenue bonds 'on behalf of Despatch Industries. Roll call was taken on the motion. Ayes, Nelson, Zaun, Sindt &.Enright. Mr. Martin Pranke made a comment on assessments .pending against his property. 81.4b5 Motion was made-by Sindt, seconded by Nelson to follow the attorney's - recommendationto delete. all pending assessments against parcels 22-02900-030-32 and 22-02900-04fl-32 and rem©ve that parcel from the assess- ment rolls for Improvement .Project 80-10. Ro11 call'-:was taken on the motion.--Ayes, Zauna Sindt, Enright & Nelson. 81.466 Motion was made by Sindt, seconded by Nelson to approve the change order with. Henning Nelson: Construction in the amount of $4, 158.00`for additional culvert.. and grading work. - Roll-call was taken on .the motion. Ayes, Sindt, Enright, Nelson & 2aum. -2- • • s CITY'OF LAYEVILLE ~OUNCIL'MEETING September 21, 9.81 At this time Mr. Zaun read letters form the Lakeville Post Master, Mr. Pat Donnelly, concerning vandalism-and requesting the police to lock the post office. Mr. Zaun also read a letter from Mr. Radermacher, Police Chief, opposing the police being responsible for locking the post office.... The council directed the police chief to meet with. the Lakeville Post Master to try to find a possible solution and alternatives to prevent vandalism while still maintaining service to residents. The council set a time of 6:30 on Tuesday, September 29, to review the assessment hearing work session at City Hall. At this. time, the City Attorney reviewed .the alternative courses of action the council .could take concerning the vacancy on the City Council as a result-of :the resignation of Mayor Gordon Lekson. 81.467 Motion was made by Sindt, seconded. by Nelson to accept the resignation of-Gordon Lek on as mayor. of the City of Lakeville. Roll call was taken on he motion. Ayes, Enright, Nelson, .Zaun & Sindt. 81.468 Motion was made by Nelson, seconded by,Sndt to adjourm the council meeting.. The homestead will remain in Lakeville, however. I have enjoyed my tenure of servkce and thank each of you for your cooperation.
