Crystal Digre appeared to request permission to hang basaners over the street .and act up booths to advertise the 7th of 4etober as "Don't Smoke Day". 7.532 Motion bg Emond seconded by Brander to grant the request ©f the Lakevil:ie High School student council to put up banners-and booths for "Won't Sr~~ake Day". The clerk was instructed to send a letter to the Park and Recreation Co~i.ttee that they look into the possibility of purchasing the two lots adjacent to the Forest Hills pumphouse. 47~+.5~ Motion by Clarkson seconded by E~aond to authorize the expenditure of X1650 for a slope easement and 1.l acre for a permanent easement to Mr. Wilford Barrett. for lead almog Hi.gh~i.ew Avenue. Jensen, Emend, Clarkson,Brandes and Mako "aye", motion carried. 7~.~+1 Motion by Brander seconded by Mako to approve the recommended payment of 3/~th of the court award to Leonard and Marilyn Quist for the water reservoir property. Emond, Clarkson, Brander, Mako and: Jensen "aye", motion carried. 7~+.5~2 Motion by Brander seconded by Clarkson to adopt the resolution to grant the': vacation of a portion of street to Wren, Inc. Clarkson, Brander, Mako, Jensen, and E~aond "aye", motion carried. 7~+.5~+3 Motion by Emend seconded by Brander to follow the Planning Commission recommendation and grant Wren Inc. a building permit for their property on 209th St. W. subject to the building inspector's approval. Brander, Make, Jensen, Emend and Clarkson "aye", motion carried. Persons.living i.n Valley Park unfinished homes were present 'to inquire as to the statue of the completion of these homes. Mr. Farrell advised that he had no written report at this time but the liens are still being settled. Mr. Jo~ade and Mr. Scanlon said they were interested i.n closing on their homes. A meeting in set for $P.M. at Park View School vn September 30 for the Valley Park builder, City Administrator, City Attorney, City Engineer, Council,. Public Works Director and all interested Valley :Park residents t;o d3:scuss the present status of the hoffies anal all the pertinent ini'ormation available in regard to the Valley .Park. situation. A letter from the Fire Department regarding a change in Ordinance 33 was read. This matter was referred to the City .Attorney for a recgm~uendati.on. A request from the Fire Department to draw up plans and specs for a new truck wa:s returned to the firemen so that they can go ahead with the plans & specs. 7~.~~6 Motion by Make seconded by Brander tc> follow the recommendation of the county assessor and allow the tax abatement for Mav'rtha C.
