HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-09-73 • 1~ILLAGE OF LAKEVILLE COUNCIL MEETING APRIL 9, 1973 1'he meeting was called to order at 8:00 P.M. by Acting Mayor Mako. Present: Friedges, Mako,-Emond, Edwards. Absent: Jensen. Also present: Robert Frigaard, Village Engineer. 73.200 Motion by Friedges seconded by Emond to approve the minutes of the. April 2, and April 4, 1973 meetings as presented. Mako, Emond ,and Friedges "aye", motion carried.. The Building InPpector's report for March 1973 was presented. 73.201 Motion by Mako-seconded by Friedges to instruct .the attorney to write a letter to Metro Cable requesting them-to have a representative at the May 7, 1973 council meeting at 9:00 P.M. Emond, Edwards, Friedges and Mako "aye", motion carried. The Village Engineer presented his month]y report.. 73.202 Motion-by Friedges seconded by Emond to follow the recommendation of ..the Water" and Sewer Committee and appoint Gary Glenna to the Water & Sewer Committee to fill the vacancy created by the resignatioq of John Wren.. Edwards, Friedges, Mako and Emond "aye", Motion carried. The Planning Commission minutes of March 29, 1973 were presented. Mr. Paul Krause appeared before the council with his preliminary plat of Jackson Heights 2nd Addition. The Park & Recreation Committee accepted Lot 1, Block. 2, and $2000.00 in parkequipment with the developer to grade and develop~:> the park under the supervision of the Park & Recreation Committee. 73.203. .Motion by ..Emond seconded by Friedges to ~Q~~or~the Planning Commission recommendation and approve the preliminary plat of Jackson Heights 2nd Addition subject to the engineers, and attorney's approval. Friedges, Mako, Emond and.Edwards "aye", motion carried. A group of residents living on 208th St. & Lower 208th St. were present to voice opposition in the granting of a special use permit to Vadis Beauty Nook. for a beauty shop in her new home. 73.204 Motion by Edwards seconded by Mako to follow the Planning Commission recommendation and deny the special use permit. Mako, Emond, Edwards and Friedges "aye°, motion carried. 73.205 Motion by Friedges seconded by Emond to follow the P1'anning Commission recommendation and grant Mr. Wallace Potter a variance. to build below lot level on Lots 5, 6, & T, B1k.2, SulTivan's 1st.. Addition to Marion .Heights. Emond, Edwards,. Friedges and Mako "aye", motion carried. Mr. Gene. Jacobson appeared before the council with the preliminary plat of the Weisner Estate. 73.206 Motian by Mako 'seconded by Edwards that the public hearing on the preliminary plat of the Weisner Estate be continued until April 16, 1973. Edwards, Friedges, Mako and Emond "aye", motion carried. Two representatives of the Mutual Capital Corp. appeared before the council with their preliminary plat of Oak Nills. $12,200.00 ih cash donation has been accepted by the Park & Recreation Committee. 73.207 Motion by Mako seconded by Friedges to approve the preliminary plat of Mutual Capital Corp. Oak Hills subject. to the approval of the attorney and engineer. Friedges, Mako and .Emond "aye", Edwards opposed, motion .carried. The Park & Recreation Committee report for March 28, 1973 was presented. P VILLAGE OF LAKEVILLE COUNCIL MEETING ..APRIL 9, 1973 73.208 Motion by Friedges seconded by Emond to follow the Park & Recreation Committee recommendation and purchase $4300.00 worth of park equipment for the parks ` ~n ~ ail ~,~y~ Raick . Mako, Emo!?d, Edwards and Fri edges "aye" , motion carried. 7.3.208 Motion by Mako secondedby Friedges to instruct the clerk to write a letter to the Central Telephone Co. regarding the. poles along Hwy. 50, akti ng them ei thet;_te~~pppeab ~e~Fere~~ he counci 1 or answer i n writing regarding this matter.: A copy of this letter is to be forwarded to the Public Service Commission. Emond, Edwards, Friedges and Mako_"aye°, motion carried. 73.210 Motion by Emond seconded by Friedges to follow the Fire Departments recommendation and_sign the Mutual Aid Agreement with the Farmington fire Department. Edwards, Friedges, Mako and Emond "aye", motion carried. A group of residents from the Lakeville Hills area were .present and wanted to know if the council had made a decision on what to do with their house problems after touring the area on Saturday. The council. had not met with attorney as yet, but will do so as soon as possible .and will let them know what decision is reached regarding this matter. The residentsliving on 208th St. & Lower 208th St. voiced their opposition of Mrs. Eleanor Wagner renting out ~~e basement in her home. 73.211 Motion by Mako seconded by Emond that this matter be post-poned until May 7, 1973 at 9:30 P.M. so the. council could ob-fain legal advice regarding this matter. Friedges, Mako, Emond and Edwards "aye", motion carried. 73.212 Motion by Emond seconded by Edwards to acknowledge the claim of Mr. John Sawicki against the village. Mako, Emond, Edwards and Friedges "aye", motion carried. Mrs. Dennis Corcoran a resident of Lower 208th St. requested the council to do something about the motorcycles riding in the park in her area. This matter was turned over to the police con~nittee who will meet with the Police Chef to see what can be done. 73.213 Motion by Edwards to instruct the Village Attorney to take all necessary- legal steps to annex that part of Airlake Industrial Park .that lies in .Eureka. Twp. to the Village of Lakeville.. Motion died for lack of second.. 73.214 Motion by Friedges seconded by Mako to grant the Lakeville Boosters Club a permit to erect a sign from June 1, to Sept. 1. Emond, Edwards, Friedfes and. Mako."aye", motion carried. Motion by Emond seconded by Mako to adjourn carried unanimously. Respectfully submitted;. RK
