PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING
MAY 17, 1995
The evening began with the annual park tour which began at 7:00 PM from
Lakeville City Ha11. Joining Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee
members on the tour were two members of the Planning Commission, David
Luick and Howard Amborn. The tour focused on Phase I bond referendum
acquisition and development sites. The group returned to City Hall at
approximately 8:4 5 PM.
ITEM # 1. Call to order.
The meeting was called to order in the Lakeville Council Chambers by
Chairperson Illa at 8:50 PM.
ITEM #2. Roll call.
Present were H. Lovelace, L. Lulf, C. Wanless-Sobel, K. Ilia, J. Larson, and
P. Messinger. Committee member A. Raymond was not able to attend. Also
present were Park Director Steve Michaud and Recording Secretary Judi Ryan.
• ITEM #3. Approval of Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee
minutes of May 3, 1995.
The minutes of the May 3, 1995 Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee
meeting were discussed. There were no additions or corrections and the
minutes were approved as printed.
ITEM #4. Citizen comments.
There were no citizens present at the meeting.
ITEM #5. Staff reports.
In addition to the update from staff which committee members had received
with their packet materials, staff added several other comments.
College and high school students who have been hired for summer
maintenance positions will be starting intermittently in the next few weeks.
The addition of the two 580-D mowers has certainly helped the regular crew
keep up with spring mowing.
The STS crew was in Lakeville for the first and second week of May and
accomplished several projects. They are scheduled to be back later in the
summer for other projects.

Construction has begun on the water tower at the North Park site. Everything
seems to be going according to schedule.
ITEM 6. Review Amoco Addition preliminary and final plat and
make parks and trail dedication recommendation to City Council.
This plat consists of two commercial lots on land located on the west side of
Kenwood Trail and north of 175th Court. The plat involves the combination
of portions of three unplatted parcels with Outlot A Argonne Park and the
subdivision of these combined .parcels into two lots. Lot 1 will include the
existing Amoco gas station and car wash and Lot 2 is designated for future
development. There is an existing eight-foot wide concrete sidewalk located
.along the west side of Kenwood Trail adjacent to the preliminary and final
plat.
95.18 Motion was made by Messinger, seconded by Larson, to recommend City
Council approve the preliminary and final plat of Amoco Addition and require
the developer to pay a commercial rate cash contribution on one lot to satisfy
the park and trail dedication ordinance.
Motion passed.
ITEM #7. Unfinished business.
The Snowmobile Task Force met on April 26, 1995 and agreed to take a
similar approach during the next snowmobile season as would have been
attempted this year, had there been sufficient snow. A fall meeting of the task.
force was scheduled for October 9, 1995. Staff will send a letter to task force
members updating them on task force recommendations for next season. Staff
mentioned that two local businesses have each consented to contribute one-
third of the cost for an enforcement snowmobile to be used by the Lakeville
Police Department. A third sponsor is being solicited.
ITEM #8. New business.
It has been suggested that all committees and commissions cancel their
meeting for the first week of July to give members a summer break.
95.19 Motion was made by Lulf, seconded by Lovelace, to cancel the July 5, 1995
Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee meeting.
Motion passed.
ITEM #9. - Announcements.
The next meeting of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee is scheduled
• for June 7, 1995 at 6:00 PM.
