VILLAGE OF LAKEVILLE COUNCIL MEETING
JANUARY 11, 1971
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Jensen followed by the
flag pledge. Present; Mako, Friedges and Jensen.& Sullivan.
Absent; Clarkson.
569. Motion by Friedges seconded by Mako to accept the minutes of the
January 4, 1971, meeting as corrected. Mako, Friedges and Jensen
"aye", motion carried.
The building inspector presented his report.
The Dakota County Tribune and the Lakeville Times bids for
the Village legal publications were read.
Jensen made a motion to appoint the Lakeville Times as the official
newspaper for the coming year. There was opposition to this from
members of the council as they fe1G the new council to be elected.
on Jan. 14, 1971, should make this appointment. The motion died
for the lack of a second.
570. Motion by Mako seconded by Friedges to grant the abatements to
four parcels of land as presented by the county assessor with
the abatements attached to these minutes.
Friedges, Jensen and Mako "aye", motion carried.
571. Motion by Mako seconded by Friedges to accept the notice of claim
re Palmer Hammer, Jr.
.Jensen, Mako and Friedges "aye", motion carried.
572. Motion by Mako seconded by Friedges to stog payment on check number
5445 in the amount of $1$.05, issue a duplicate .check and waive
bond for same. Mako, Friedges and Jensen "aye", motion carried.
A letter regarding the insurance coverage of the liquor store
was read bg the council.
573. Motion by Jensen seconded by Mako to have the Village attorney
follow these lawsuits to protect the Village interests.
Friedges, Jensen, Sullivan and Mako "aye", motion carried.
574. Motion by Mako seconded by Sullivan to follow the recommendation of
the insurance agent and increase the liability insurance at the
liquor store. Jenser},Sullivan, Mako and Friedges "aye", motion carried.
The canvassing meeting for the. Village election of January 12,
1971, was set for Wednesday evening, January 13, 1971 at 7 P.M.
575. Motion by Sullivan seconded by Friedges that any shortages in the
Motor Vehicle Fund be covered by the General Fund. Sullivan, Mako,
Friedges and Jensen "aye",.motion carried.
576. Motion by Mako seconded by Friedges to authorize Mayor Jensen that in
the event of a "no" vote in Valley Park, he request the attorneys
Thuet and. Todd to prepare petitions to be circulated for Valley Park
to be annexed back to Lakeville. Mako, Friedges and Jensen "aye",
Sullivan "ao" motion carried.
Walter King, Jr's Justice of the Peace report was reviewed
by the council.
Motion by Sullivan seconded by Friedges to adjourn carried unanimously..
Meeting adjourned.
