VILLAGE OF LAKEVILLE--COUNCIL .MEETING--AUGUST 17,1970
'Fhe meeting was called. to order by Mayor Jensen followed
by the,flag pledge.
Present; Friedges, Mako, Jensen, Sullivan and.Taft.
Also present: Bob Frigaard and Pat Farrell.
32I. Motion by Friedges seconded by Mako to approve the corrected Aug. 3, 1970,,
minutes. Friedges,.. Mako, Jensen, Sullivan and Taft "aye" motion carried.
322. Motion by Sullivan seconded by Friedges to accept the corrected minutes
for Aug.. 10,1970. Mako, Jensen, Sullivan, Taft and Friedges "aye",
motion carried.
323. Motion by Sullivan seconded by Mako to pay the Liquor bills. Jensen,
Sullivan, Taft, Friedges and Mako. "aye", motion carried.
324. Motion by Taft seconded by Sullivan to hold check nr. 5606, and pay the
rem9iining Village bills. ,Sullivan, Taft, Friedges, Mako and .Jensen "aye",
motion carried.
~ The Planning Commission minutes were read.
fF 325. Motion by Sullivan seconded by Ta£t to authorize Mr. Farrell to draw up
a development contractfor the final plat of Bill-Jackson and return with
it to the next meeting. Taft, Friedges, Mako, Jensen and Sullivan "aye',
motion carried. It was agreed that no building permits would be issued
until all the public ~~nprovements are in.
326. Motion by Taft seconded by Friedges to approve the preliminary plat for
Floyd Bentson and refer the park dedication to the. Park .and Recreation
Committee for their recommendation.
Friedges, Mako, Jensen, Sullivan and Taft "aye', motion carried.
327. Motion by Sullivan seconded by Friedges to appoint Dennis Dunham to
.the P,~anning Commission. Mako, Jensen, Sullivan, Taft and Friedges "aye",
motion carried.
Dennis Dunham was sworn in to the Planning Commission.
A list of abatement applications was presented by the County
official. {List. attached.)
328. Motion by Taft seconded by Sullivan to grant the valuation abatement to
Martha G. Clay.. Jensen, Sullivan, Taft, Friedges and Mako "aye", motion
carried.
329. Motion by Mako seconded by Friedges to grant the abatement to Jerry Tuma.
Sullivan, Taft, Friedges, Mako and Jensen "aye", motion carried.
330. Motion by Friedges seconded by Mako to grant the abatement to William R.
Webber. Taft, Friedges, Mako, Jensa~ and Sullivan "aye'", motion carried.
Ivan Lundstrom representing the James refrigeration Co.
presented a proposal for the development of rental property on Highway 50
and 175th St. They are proposing a Tom Thumb Supperette and would like
to have an outlet for off-sale liquor in conjunction with this project.
The council/him to puusue this further.

Mr. & Mrs. `John Rosengren and Mr. & Mrs. Walter
Babcockapppeared before the council to request that.. something be
done about the.`old barn behind their houses in.Valley.Park. They
said it was rat infested and also a hazard as the children were
playing in it. They had been informed by Donnay's representative
that this barn would be torn down. Mr. Mako 'felt that a letter
should be sent stating that the barn should be torn down unless
Donnay can show that it will be used again.
A decision was made to have the Mayor meet with a representative
of Dennay on Thursday and get an answer to this question.
A request was submitted for a new ice machine at the
liquor store. It would cost $1970 minus the trade in for the old
machine of $600. The total price quoted was $1370, for the new machine
all hooked up. This also included a one year guarantee. It was
decided to have Mr. Taft and Mr. Friedges .contact Mr. MartinJif-this
was what he wanted.. to see
331. Motion by Sullivan seconded by Mako that if this machine. meets with
Mr. Martin's approval to have it installed. Friedges, Mako, Jensen,
.Sullivan and Taft "aye", motion carried.
332.. Motion by Taft seconded by Friedges to purchase a desk, calculator and
chair for the office. Mako, Jensen, Sullivan, Taft and Friedges "aye",
motion carried.
Mr. `Sullivan reported that calcium chloride could be
purchased from the .County at a $20 saving.
It was decided that Lakeville would grade the town line
road east of 31 and Apple Va11~~u1d do the plowing.
New fenders. will be bought for the GMC truck.
Mr. Mako reported that the Village dump will be Ieft open
for about 1S months..
Paul Oxley presented a civil defense ordinance to the
council and attorney for consideration.
333. Motion by Taft seconded by Sullivan to sign fihe lease with Moward
Gulden for the-old pumphouse. Jensen, Sullivan, Taft, Friedges and
Mako "aye", motion carried.
334. Motion by Sullivan seconded by Friedges to approve the list of election
judges. Sullivan, Taft, Friedges and Jensen "aye", motion carried.
335. Motion by Taft seconded by Friedges authorizing .the setting up 'of a new
payroll system. Taft, Friedges, Jensen and Sullivan "aye", motion carried..
33b. Motion by Sullivan seconded by Taft to approve payment of Grannie & Grannie
bill. Friedges,'Jensen and Sullivan "aye" , Taft opposed, motion carried.
Motion by Friedges seconded by Sullivan to adjourn. Motion carried.
