VILLAGE OF LAKEVILLE COUNCIL MEETING--SEPTEMBER 8, 1970
The meeting was called to .order by Mayor Jensen followed
by the flag pledge. .Present; Friedges, Mako, Jensen, Sullivan
and Taft. Also present; Pat Farrell, Village attorney and Bob Frigaard,
Village engineer.
345. Motion by Sullivan seconded by Taft that the minutes of the Aug.17,1970
meeting stand as read. Friedges, Mako, Jensen, Sullivan and Taft "aye",
motion carried..
346. Motion by Mako seconded by Friedges to accept the minutes of the Aug. 21,
1970, meeting as read. Mako, Jensen, Sullivan, Taft and .Friedges."aye",
motion carried.
347.. Motion by Friedges seconded. by Mako to accept the minutes of the
Aug. 24, 1970, meeting correcting the date set for taking of bids to `
Sept. l4, 1970, at ~ P.M. Jensen, Sullivan, Taft, Friedges and Mako "aye"',
motion carried.
348. Motion by Taft seconded by Mako to accept the minutes of the Aug. 31, 1970,
meeting as read. Sullivan, Taft, Friedges, Mako and Jensen "aye",
motion. carried.
349. Motion by Friedges seconded by Mako to accept the minutes of the Sept. 2, 1970,
meeting as read. Taft, Friedges, Mako, Jensen and Sullivan "aye",
motion carried.
The Planning Commission minutes were presented by Jerome
Clay.
350. Motion by Friedges seconded by Mako to grant a variance for a garage
to Arvid King to build .three feet to West side of property line.
Friedges, Mako, Jensen, Sullivan and Taft "aye", motion carried.'
351. Motion by Sullivan seconded by Mako: to grant Arvid King variance
to build a garage with a set back l0 feet from the back of his house
instead of the usual 20 feet. Mako, Jensen, Sullivan, and Friedges
"aye", Taft opposed,`mo~on carried.
Mr. Winkler and R. Hawks appeared to present their.
plan for a devlopment north of 165th St. They felt this .would be'
good for the Village and there was no opposition by the property
owners adjacent to this project. A letter from the Superintendent
of schools was also introduced.
The Planning Commissions recommendationwas to deny the
rezoning as they felt it was toafar in .the future.
352. Motion by Sullivan seconded by Taft to grant the rezoning of H. G.
Winkler with the legal description attached.
Jensen, Sullivan, Taft and Mako "aye", Friedges opposed, motion carried.
The Park and Recreation Committee members of the council
were instructed to check into the park land donation .from Floyd Bentson
to see what it is worth in cash.
353. Motion by Mako seconded by Friedges to purchase the 1970 Building Code
book. Sullivan, Taft, Friedges, Mako and Jensen "aye", motion carried.
.Herb Lambert presented the Park and Recreation Committee
report.
354. Motion by Mako seconded by Friedges to pay for the satellite in the
Buffer Park. Taft, Friedges, Mako, Jensen, and Sullivan "aye", motion
carried.

Louis`Englert showed the council a .letter that he
had in his possession stating that he .could. have a free sewer hookup
on certain property. This will be followed up by the council.
Roy Kuehn appeared to protest the fee for business.
signs. He felt that this would drive the business men out of Lakeville.
It was explained that this is one way the council has to control the type
of sign that goes- up in the Village.
A map of the access on Lake Marion on 202nd St. W
was shown to the council.
355. Motion by Taft seconded by Mako to repeal Resolution Nr. 344.
Friedges, Mako, Jensen, and Taft "aye", Sullivan abstained, motion
carried.
356. Motion by Taft seconded by Mako adopting the resolution purchasing
the Taylor property, resolution attached, Mako, Jensen, Taft and
Friedges "aye", Sullivan abstained, motion carried.
The clerk was instructed to write to Lakeville Sanitation
to see if something could be done to improve the service to its
.customers.
357. Motion by Taft seconded by Friedges to have Geo. M. Hansen Co. do the
1970 audf€ for the Village. Jensen, Sullivan, Taft, Friedges and
Mako "aye", motion carried.
Motion by Sullivan seconded by Friedges to adjourn. Motion carried.
