HomeMy WebLinkAbout01-19-70 ~ I C VILLAGE OF LAKEVILLE COUNCIL MEETING JANUARY 19, 1970 T'he meeting was called to order by Mayor Jensen which was followed by the_flag pledge. Present; Friedges, Jensen, Sullivan. and Mako. 38. Motion by Sullivan seconded by Friedges to pay the Village bills but to hold 4656 and send to the insurance company far payment. Friedges, Jensen, Mako and Sullivan"aye" motion carried. 39. Motion by Mako seconded by Sullivan to instruct the clerk to pay the. Liquor Store bills. Jensen, Mako, Sullivan and Friedges 11aye", motion carried. Two sets of specs for a pick-up truck for. the Utility Dept. were presented. It was decided to have N}r. Frigaard, Mako and Sullivan prepare the final specs. It was decided to omit any examinations of 'the Village well and pump by the McCarthy Well Co. as it it unnecessary.. 40. Iti4otion by Sullivan ,seconded by Nako to authorize the mayor and clerk to sign the contract from Zeigler for the front end loader. Prlako, Sullivan, Friedges and Jensen "aye" , motion carried. A directive was to be sent to the Planning Commission for a Capitol Improvement Study. The Village has inadequate quarters and this would be a 5 year study of building improvements. They are to report back on the 3rd Monday in March which is the 16th. 41. Motion by i~4ako seconded by Friedges that this request be forwarded; to the Planning Commission with March 16th for the first progress report; ~}r. Frigaard will show the Planning Commission other facilities. Sullivan, Friedges, Jensen and Mako "aye }d}otion carried. Emmett 49agner appeared in connection with the weed inspector's job. He said he would give the council his decision after he had talked to qualified people about the duties. in4olved. Mr. Sutherland of the Minnesota Liquor Control appeared before the council to give them some information regarding a set-up license for the Lakeville Bowl. F}e felt that the council could reactivate the license she had been granted for the summer of 1969 and he felt this would enhance her business. This license would come up for review in July and if it proved too cumbersome, something else could be done at that time. Mr. Sutherland felt that the law concerning this operation would be deleted in the next book that came out as it was obselete. Mr. Farrell, Village Attorney, aggreed with Mr. Sutherland .and felt that if the Village wanted to limit this license to certain hours of the day, that is the Village prerogative. Mr.s Plath mentioned that bottles must be open on the tables and that she would be operatng'on a trial and error process for the time being.- She also said that she would watch that minors get no liquor or beer. 42. Motion by Sullivan seconded by Friedges to grant the Lakeville Bowl a set-up license to sell set-ups until 12:30 A. }~j. to run until July 1st when it will come up for renewal. L.LeJeune to improve beach on his property on Crystal Lake and for the Mayor to sign the notification of permit.. Jensen, Mako, Sullivan and Friedges "aye", A4otion carried.. 44. Motion by Mako seconded by Sullivan'to adopt the attached assessment form as the official form and instruct clerk to make assessment reports as she receives them and that the clerk sign same. Mako, Sullivan, Friedges and Jensen "aye, motion carried. 45. Motion by Friedges seconded by Sullivan to appoint Vern Nelson and Jim Emond to three year terms on the Park and Recreation Committee. Sullivan, Friedges, Jensen and Mako °".aye", motion carried. Mr. Frigaard reported thaw tt'he Village is elegible for state aid on streets and he could set up a meeting for someone to explain this program. A meeting was. set up for the 3rd of Feb. at 8 P.M. 46. Motion by Sullivan seconded by Friedges to adjourn. Friedges, Jensen,. Mako and Sullivan "aye", motion carried.
