The meeting was called to order by Mayor Jensen. Flag pledge was given.
Present; Friedges, Mako, Jensen, Sullivan and Taft.
164. Motion by Taft seconded by Friedges that the minutes of April 20, 1970
stand as read. Friedges, Jensen, Sullivan and Taft ''aye", motion carried.
165. Motion by Friedges seconded by Sullivan to accept the minutes of the
April 13, 1970 meeting with the following corrections in resolution nr. 142:
emit Outlot B and the... description ~f than part lying. south
of .Dodd Road from Valley Park 4th Addition.
Jenset~,Sullivan, Taft and Friedges "aye", motion carried.
The Sewer and Water reports for April 15 and.Apri1.29, 1970,
were read..
166. Motion by Mako seconded by Friedges to approve recommendation Nr. 1
( new water and sewer rates) and establish the. rates for the Village.
Mako and Jensen "aye", Friedges,"Sullivan and Taft opposed, motion failed.
The Park and Recreation report for May 4, 1970, was read.
167. Motion by Taft seconded by Sullivan to authorize-the maintenance
..department to follow the recommendation of the committee to seed the
park in Valley Park.. Taft, Friedges, Mako, Jensen and Sullivan "'aye",
motion carried.
168. Motion by Friedges seconded by Taft to raise the parking fee to $1.50
in Orchard Lake Park .and also .post the .park for one night parking only.
Friedges, Mako, Jensen, Sullivan and Taft "aye", motion carried,
Mr. Kalina appeared for Lakeville Parking, Inc. regarding
the parking lot, The council asked him to see that the terms of
a former resolution concerning the change of the flow of water, be met.
Mr. KaIina said he would confer with the owners regarding this matter.
Bob Berger appeared in connection with a petition for a storm
sewer to serve Valley Park 3rd and 4th Addition.
169. Motion by Sullivan seconded by Taft to authorize the Village engineer
to make. a preliminary study for storm sewers on Flagstaff adjacent to
Valley Park 3rd and 4th Additions. This report should be ready in two
weeks or shortly thereafter. Mako, Jensen, Sullivan, Taft and:
Friedges "aye", motion carried.
A group of property .owners from Forest Hills appeared before
the council in regard to the water running down the streets and across
driveways. Mr. & Mrs. Ray Miedema, who own lot 10 said that they could
non use their driveway and would like to have the drainage diverted some
other direction.
Mr. Lyden did not feel that this was feasible.
Dick Reece said that the sewage problem is as much in evidence
this year as last and the water has increased.
After more discussion, it was decided to install a pump as had
been :done before to improve the situation.

The final plat for Airlake 1st Addition was presented by
Maynard Johnson.
1.70. Motion by Sullivan seconded by Taft to grant a variance from the hearing
procedure to Airlake Industrial Aark. Jensen, Sullivan, Taft, Friedges
and Mako "aye", motion carried.
171. Motion by Taft seconded by Mako to .authorize the mayor and the clerk
to sign the final plat for Airlake 1st Addition plat.Sullivan, Taft,
Friedges, A4aka and Jensen "aye", motion carried.
Felix Tillges appeared to request that the ditch in Park
Terrace Park be .moved over closer to his property and that the park
be graded to make it more level,
172. Motion. by Sullivan seconded by Friedges to authorize the use of the
Village grader for. what work the park would-need. Taft and Mako
opposed, Frigid ges, Jensen and Sullivan "aye.", motion carried.
Nich-Mahowald appeared with a list for some of the needs
of the police .department. Following is the list:
1. 1 part time man for the summer and 1 full time to replace
Mike Gerrety.
2. 1 new squad car.
3. 2 oxygen. masks .and tanks.
4. Law books and statutes- this would be referred to
Village attorney.
S. Another walkie talkie.
6. Tires for the car and method of buying same.
7. .car rental-$214 per month but.. must buy own tires.
A new .car would be provided every 50,000 miles.
It was decided to refer this list to the police committee
who will bring back a recommendation in two weeks.
Robert Clarke appeared in connection with a complaint from
the police dept, for breaking the junk car ordinance. Walter King, Jr.
had tried this case and did not feel that the accused was in violation.
Motion by Sullivan to let Clarke continue as he is but there was no
second sa motion died..
It was decided to postpone this matter until. the 11th so that further
information could be obtained from the Village attorney as to other
alternatives for enforcing this ordinance. A visual inspection. is going to
be made also.
173. A4otion by Taft seconded by Sullivan that no further building permits
would be granted for building in Forest Hills Addition until the water
and sewer situation is remedied and until the status of the water
system is resolved. .Friedges, Mako, Jensen, Sullivan and Taft "aye",
motion carried.

A letter pertaining to Earth Day cleanup .and use of the
Village truck for same from the Lakeville High school students was read
to the Village Council.
174. Lotion by Taft seconded by' Sullivan to grant New Antlers Park an
on sale. and off sale beer license. Mako, Jensen, Sullivan, Taft
and Friedges "aye", motion carried.
175. Motion by Mako seconded by Sullivan. to extend a list of the meetings..
held in the Village Ha11 to the Lakeville Bank Mothers for their calendar.
Jensen, Sullivan, Taft, Friedges and Mako "aye", motion carried.
176. Motion by Mako seconded by Taft to set July 14, 1970, between the hours
of 1 P.M. to 8 P.M. for, the Board of Equalization meeting.
Sullivan, Taft, Friedges, Mako and Jensen "aye", motion carried.
Motion by Sullivan seconded"by Taft to adjourn carried.unanimously.
