HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-08-70 ~t~~ VILLAGE OF LAKEVILLE COUNCIL MEETING --JUNE 8, 1970 The meeting was called to order by Mayor Jensen with Mako, Taft and Sullivan present, Friedges absent. .Flag pledge was given. 233. Motion by Taft seconded by Sullivan that the minutes of the June 1, 1970 meeting stand as read and corrected. Mako, Jensen,. Sullivan and Taft "aye", motion carried. 234. Motion by Sullivan seconded by Taft that the minutes of the special June 2, 1970, meeting stand as read. Mako, Jensen, Sullivan and Taft "aye", motion carried. The building inspector presented his monthly. report to the council. Included was a report of the Weston Home. 23$. Motion by Sullivan seconded by Taft to grant a six month gravel permit to Alexander Construction upon the receipt of the bond. Sullivan, Taft, Mako and Jensen 'Faye", motion carried. Paul Burton, County Civil Defense Director, appeared before the council to request that they appoint a civil defense director for Lakeville. He suggested Paul Oxley who is presently a tornado spotter for the weather bureau. He mentioned that schools would be stocked for emergencies and Mr. Oxley would help to organize. in case of disaster. If Mr. Oxley would go to school and become certified, this would qualify the Village for government funds. 236. Motion by Taft seconded by Mako to hire Mr. Paul Oxley as Civil Defense Director for Lakeville at the salary of $50 per month. Taft, Mako and Jensen "aye", Sullivan opposed, motion carried.- The oath of allegiance was given to Mr. Oxley and he was advised to bring in a report regularly. John Sullivan deomstrated the Savin Copy machine to the council. He advised that the maintenance contract would run $130 per year but would be free for the first year. Nothing definite was decided at this time.. 237. Motion by Taft seconded by Sullivan to change the. diagonal parking on Upper 208th St. ,east from.. Holyoke Ave., to parallel parking. Mako, Jensen, Sullivan and Taft "aye",.motion carried. The police are to be instructed to issue tickets to anyone parking on Holyoke Ave. where the curb is painted. yellow. Felix Tilges requested a permit to erect a manufactured home on the old R~nontlt farm out by Judicial Road.' 238. Motion by Sullivan seconded by Taft to grant the permit to Mr. Tillges to build one of his manufactured houses on this 10 acres subject to the attorney's approval of the ingress easement. The owner must also be notified that this road would not be serviced by the Village. Jensen, Sullivan, Taft and Mako "aye", motion carried. 239. Motion by Taft seconded by Mako to enter into the sewer agreement with Apple Valley. Sullivan, Taft, Mako and Jensen "aye", motion carried. 240. Motion by Taft seconded by Sullivan to approve the lakeshore improvements. for G. Hindal and A. Westbrook at Oak Shores Addition. Taft, Mako, Jensen and Sullivan "aye", motion carried.
