OChOBER 18, 1989
Meeting was called to order by Chairman Larson at 7:00 PM. Members
present were Larson, Grenz, Lulf, Lovelace and Illa. Messinger and
Raymond had conflicts and. were not able to attend. Also present was
Recording Secretary Judi Ringeisen. Park Director Steve Michaud was
attending the National Conference in San Antonio.
89.101 Motion was made by Illa, seconded by Lxzlf, to approve the minutes of the
.October 4, 1989 Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee as read.
Motion passed.
The committee had received a memo from staff with their packets which
updated them on several items. Lulf wondered where .exactly Judicial Road
would realign with the old road. Staff can clarify this at the next
meeting. Committee members comanented that the realignment would be
beneficial to patrons of Orchard Lake Beach.
Committee member Grenz had received a comment from a citizen who reported
that some people had been playing "Splat ball" in Ritter Farm Park. Also,
staff had received a call inquiring about bow hunting in the park. Both
of these activities are prohibited in the park.
Committee was informed that Resident Guidebooks will be mailed out within
a day or two.
The commiittee discussed the need for a Mission Statement in order to have
set policies and goals for the committee to assist them in the decision
making process. Much of the remainder of the meeting was spent discussing
wording and content of the proposed statement. A draft will be sent to
the comnnittee so that further discussion can be held at the next meeting.
It was suggested that the new HRA apartm~aZt building downtown Lakeville
consider installing some playground equipment in order to entertain young
visitors. Also at the bikeway railroad crossing on 208th Street, it was
suggested that some type of bench or swing be installed along with some
sod, to make the area more aesthetic and usable.
89.102 Since there was no further business, it was moved by Lulf, seconded by
Lovelace, to adjourn.
Motion passed. Meeting adjourned at 8:35 PM.
