PARK AND RECREATION ADVISORY C(k~1NIITTEE MEETING
MARCH 19, 1986
Roll call: Messinger, Anderson, Gramstad and Grenz. Also present was
Larry Lulf, representing the Lakeville Athletic Association, and Park and
Rec Director Steve Michaud. Member Howie Lovelace could not make the
meeting and committee member Briscoe was absent.
The next order of business was the approval of the March 5, 1986 Park and
Recreation Committee minutes.
86-25 It was moved by Gramstad, seconded by Messinger, to approve the minutes as
read.
Motion passed.
The next order of business was the Park and Recreation Director's report.
Staff reported that maintenance was going well, the crews were working on
several projects in the shop relative to preparing summer equipment and
storing away all the winter equipment. The maintenance department is also
presently inventorying all the park identification signs and upgrading and
redoing all the signs that need to be replaced.
In the recreation division, everything is going very well. Planning is
well underway for all the spring and summer. programs and the senior citizen
• center is operating very smoothly.
The next order of business was a discussion by the committee and an update
from staff on the park referendum issue. Staff reported that several
presentations had been given in the community and that the overall response
had been very favorable. The citizen task force committee has been meeting
regularly, has formed several subcommittees, is well organized and is
forging ahead.
There were some concerns expressed by the committee from the Valley Park
area that certain newspapers and articles concerning the referendum were
not reaching the neighborhoods of Valley Park. It was also suggested that
certain areas of Valley Park were not receiving the city newsletter. Staff
informed the committee that he would discuss .this with the City
Administrator. The committee then decided to adjourn the meeting to go to
the bond referendum task force meeting that was being held at City Ball.
86-26 It was then moved by Messinger, seconded by Grenz, to adjour he meeting.
Motion passed.
