HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-07 CITY OF LAK.EVILLE • PARK AND RECREATION COMMITTEE MINUTES DECEMBER 7, 1983 7:00 PM Roll call: Cramer, Storlie, Lewis, Grenz, Olmsted, Lovelace and Norden were all present. Park Director, Steve Michaud, was also present, Item number two was the approval of the Park and Recreation committee minutes of November 2, 1983. 83.47 Motion was made by Cramer, seconded by Grenz, to approve the minutes as read,. Motion passed. Item number three was the Park Director's report, Steve informed the committee that the Aronson .Park lighting project was put on hold until Spring. as a result of the two major. snowstorms we received at the time the project was planned to be completed. The Oak Shores Tenth Addition project has been completed except for about. 10%, which represents. the spreading of black dirt and miscellaneous clean up. The lots are still f_or sale and new signs have been put up on the lots, advertising their sale, • The Ritter Farm Park ski trails have all be signed and maintained and as of the new snow, we began grooming the trails. All hockey rink and pleasure skating areas have been cleared of the recent snow and at least four or five floodings have been placed on the .ground. Weather permitting, we are planning to open the rinks the weekend of December 17th, Our maintenance crew is flooding two shifts right now:. 7:30 AM to 4;00 PM and 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM, Jacquard Avenue Park, now known as The Meadows Park, will have a skating area this year and the snow has been cleared away in preparation for the flooding truck, .Steve informed the committee of the new D,N,R. regulations requiring licenses for skiers, Ski licenses would be sold at Ritter Farm Park,. City Hall and Motor Vehicle department. Steve also informed the committee that a warming house would 'be placed at The rieadows Park. However, as of these minutes, and because of several circumstances - mainly the lack of electricity and natural gas to The Meadows Park area the feasibility of. moving a house onto the project site does not look very good, Under item number four, current development plats, Steve informed the committee that he knew a plat had been proposed to the staff that was • located in the area of Countryview Mobile Home Park. It would be an expansion to the north of the Countryview Mobile Home Park that exists today, At present, the plat is with the developer and when it is appropriate, the committee will review it. Park and Recreation Committee minutes December 7,1983 . Page -2- Item number five was a review of the plat by Westwood Planning, which is located south of 165th Street on the frontage road. Steve informed the committee that apparently the plat is still with the planners and when the new. concept drawings, including .the park areas, are completed, we wi11 then review them. Item six, old business, Steve informed the committee that Tim Erkkila from Erkkila and Associates would be coming to the Park and Recreation committee meeting on December 21, 1983., to begin the process of review and updating the Park and Open Space System P1aM,- Park and Recreation committee members should. review their system plan copies and be prepared to discuss the potential changes. and format for the new copy. Under new business, Steve informed the committee that the Dakota County HRA and the City'nf Lakeville had signed a corporate agreement for the application of_small cities grant fund. The City council, the same evening, spoke in favor of submitting a grant application for the building of a new Senior Citizen Center in downtown Lakeville. Steve will. be working with the seniors, with Jeanne, and an architect from CED for preliminary ideas and the development of other information for the submission of this grant. • Steve also informed the committee that the City of Lakeville would be inviting all committee members to the Christmas party at no cost. 83..48 There being no further business, it was moved by Norden, seconded by Grenz, to adjourn the meeting.
