HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-29 LLE CITY OF LAKEVI PARK AND RECREATION COMMITTEE MINUTES JUNE 29, 1983 7:00 PM Roll Call: Storlie, Norden, Lovelace, and Grenz were present. Cramer, Lewis and Olmsted were absent. Park-and Recreation Director, Steve Michaud, was also present. The first order of business was the approval of the June 1, 1983 Park and Recreation Committee minutes. 83.32 It was moved by Grenz, seconded by Storlie, to approve the minutes as read. Motion. passed. The next order of business was the Park Director's report. Steve reported to the committee that most of the major development projects were still being halted because of wet conditions. Purchase and installation of playground equipment at several sites and the seeding of Jacquard Avenue are all on the "wait" status .until the areas all dry out. Steve explained that maintenance was going well,, that we had all of our CETA crews on and much work is being completed. .Steve also explained to the committee a few problems with some of the beach areas. relative to parking and large crowds due to the heat. Some emergency "No Parking" sign installations have taken place and staff will be ready to handle the large crowds over the Fourth of July weekend. The next item on the agenda was review of the Lakeview Heights sub- division. Steve reviewed with the committee a letter from David Licht explaining the situation and updating the plat. Steve explained the litigations involved with the City and the developers and the previous recommendation from the Park and Recreation Committee about a year ago. 83.33 After a short discussion, it was moved by Grenz, seconded by Storlie, to re-confirm. the Park and Recreation Committee's original motion made approximately one year ago to recommend to the City Council that a cash contribution be accepted to satisfy the park dedication ordinance require- ment. Motion passed. Item number five was a review of the Council actions. Steve explained to the .committee that all the recommendations committee had made at the last meeting, including concessions, vending machines, park dedication fees resolution and the planning of Jamaica Avenue had all been okayed by the City Council and were moving along just fine. Under new business, Steve updated the committee relative to recent meetings with the Lakeville Athletic Association pertinent to installation of athletic lighting on fields one and two in Aronson Park. The committee will be updated as .this proposed project continues through its planning stage. Under old business, Steve had sent in the packages to the committee, four letters .suggesting names for Jacquard Avenue Park. Steve suggested that since Olmsted and Lewis were not present at the meeting and both chaired that committee, that we would wait until the next meeting before reviewing the suggested names. 83.34 There being no further business, it was moved by Norden, seconded by Lovelace, to adjourn the meeting.
