The divider could also then be removed to accomodate one large picnic.

on the approximate cost of .wood to have it built ourselves. Presently
the estimates are coming in around $10,000.00 for the total project.

in the funding and the construction of the project.

Item C, Steve reported to the committee that he had telephoned Bob
Sandeen, Dakota County engineer, to discuss the project of painting a
solid line along Cedar Avenue from 160th Street to the new elementary
school. Mr. Sandeen has stated that they would get this project painted
when their painting resumed a little later in the spring.
Item D. was an update of maintenance projects. Steve informed the
committee that all major projects to date are going well. All the dock
sections for Valley Lake Beach and the raft had been completed and were
awaiting installation. Many miscellaneous projects gearing up for our
other beaches and park projects are also going well.
Under Item E, Steve brought up the setting of a date for a ribbon
cutting ceremony dedicating our new bike trail in Valley Park and the
establishment of Ritter Farm Park trails into the National Trail System.
The committee chose Saturdays May 2nd or 9th, or Fridays, May lst or 8th
as potential dates. Tentatively the first Friday in May, May lst, has
been scheduled for this.
Item four was a review of the bicycle trail comprehensive plan.
Steve informed the committee that he had met with Jim Johnson from C.E.D.
and that they had driven around to all the potential locations for a
trail going from Lakeville out to the High School. The Lakeville City
Council has allocated $500.00 for C.E.D. to complete the feasibility
study for the installation of such a trail. The main intent being to
come up with facts and figures and costs so that the application .can be
prepared and submitted to the Minnesota Department of Transportation for
the funding. .Steve will keep 'the committee updated as to the progress
of this report-.
Under old business, Steve informed the committee that no new appli-
cations had been received to date for the open `position on our committee.
Steve was going to put the ad in the paper one more week before he began
to search for a person.
Continuing under new business, there was discussion concerning the
meeting dates for upcoming Park and Recreation Committee meetings. It
was. suggested by Jeff Cramer that starting in May, the Committee meet
once a month and this would continue. through the month of August. All
committee.. members concurred with. the idea. Steve added that one meeting
a month through the summer would be sufficient. If there were a need to
meet, then the second Wednesday of each month would be used to complete
.any business that may be necessary.
