OCTOBER 15, 1980
Roll Call: Cramer, Storlie, Novak and Kennedy were present. Pastor
Trued called and was unable to make the meeting. Park `
Director Steve Michaud was also present.
The first order of business was approval of the October 1, 1980
Park and Recreation Committee minutes. Steve Storlie had a correction
of the spelling of the Weichselbaum property. The correct spelling
is WEICHSELBAUM.
80-54 After the correction, it was moved by Storlie and seconded by
Cramer to approve the minutes as read.

Under the Park Director's Report, Steve stated most of his business
would be covered under new and old business. The Committee moved on to
Item 464.
Item 4~Four was the approval of Master Plans for Dodd Park, Fox-
borough and Lakeridge. The plans presented were the final drawings
• as a result of reviews of several conceptual ideas. One note that
should be corrected, Jeff Kennedy noted on the Master Plan for Lakeridge
Addition that the road going past the park from Hwy. 50 all the way
through the Addition, is Jordan Trail. The Master Plan shows two.
different streets being named.
80-55 It was moved by Cramer, seconded by Kennedy to recommend to City
Council approval of the final Master Plans for Dodd Park, Foxborough
and Lakeridge.
Motion passed.
Item number five was a review of the elementary school site. Steve
stated the Superintendent Don McGuire had not yet sent him any of the
preliminary site plans and that we would put this on the agenda as it
appeared at a future meeting.
Under new business, Steve brought up The Meadows plat. Pat
McGarvey's memo to the Planning Commission was included in the Park
and Recreation Committee members' packets. At this time a discussion
took place as to the history and the potential recommendations for the
Second Addition with respects to the park. Steve made the point that
to adequately serve Clay's Acres, The Meadows and future development
to the west, a park in the neighborhood of six to ten acres would be
necessary. Several options with respects to increasing the park dedi-
• cation fee or eliminating the existing park and purchasing another one,

are being considered. Negotiations are going to continue with the
Planning Commission and the developers. Steve will keep the Commit-
tee informed as to the progress of this plat.
Under old business, Steve informed the Committee that the. survey
crews had staked out the Cedar Avenue trail along Valley Park and,
weather permitting, construction crews are hoping to begin this week.
Valley Lake Park. development was progressing very well. Steve
stated that most of the grading and much of the black dirt had been
hauled into the site and spread. One problem had developed with a
sanitary storm pipe with respects to drainage into the area. Steve
is working closely with the engineers to determine the most feasible
direction to solve the existing problem so the project will continue
as planned.
80-56 Upon proper motion by Storlie, seconded by Kennedy, the Committee
