PARK AND RECREATION COMMITTEE MEETING
SEPTEMBER. 3, 1980.
Roll Call: Storlie, Lovelace, Cramer and Yrued were present.
Park Director, Steve Michaud, was also present.
The next order of business was approval of the August 20,
1980 Committee minutes.
80-47 It was moved bq Storlie, seconded by Lovelace to approve
the minutes as read.
Motion passed.
The next order of business was the Park Director's Report::.
Steve gave an update of the Valley Park trail. He stated
the-final drafted plans and specifications were now traveling
from various. state offices being approved. At the present time
they were at the county being reviewed by the County Engineers
and after this they will be back at the state. After the state
makes an approval, they will come back to us for bidding.
Steve discussed the 1981 Park and Recreation budget with the
Committee. He discussed some of the highlights and major aspects
of the budget. There was no serious discussion, the committee
seemed satisfied with the presentation.
Steve then went on to update the Committee on the Orchard
Lake Park LAWCON project. Steve stated that 50~ of all the fencing
has been installed, all the major landscaping has been completed
and the areas have been seeded. The Park Maintenance Deparf~nent
has approximately two to three days Left before the project can
be completed. Steve stated that he and some of the workers had
received many favorable comments as to the development project and
the renovating of that park. Steve encouraged Committee members
to drive by and .look at the development.
The next item was an update of the Orchard Lake Beach LAWCON
project. Steve stated the final application phase was now under-
way and that the project was going well. To this date, the final
Federal allocations for LAWCON have not yet been decided and will
be received .within the next month.
.Item four was the presentation by City Administrator, Pat
McGarvey on the Citp Hall/Aronson Park project. Pat was unable to
make the meeting but Steve explained. to the Committee the basic.

idea and site plan layout. The Committee was impressed with
the layout of the park and how the building and the site plan at
Aronson Park blended together.
Under old business, Steve reported that everything was going
well in the Park Maintnenace Department and the Recreation programs.
There was no new business.
80-48 Upon proper motioa by Trued, seconded by Storlie, the Committee
adjourned .
