PARK AND RECREATION COMMITTEE MEETING MIi1UTES
MARCH 5, 1980
Roll Call: Present were Lovelace, Storlie, Novak, Holsten and
Kennedy. Jeff Cramer called in, he had to work, and
Pastor Trued has Lenten services this month. Bob
Nelson called and said he had a previously arranged
meeting. Steve Michaud was also present.
Next order of business was approval of the February 6, 1980
Committee minutes.
80-16 It was moved by Holston, seconded by Storlie to approve the
February 6, 1980 Committee minutes as presented.
Motion passed.
The next order of business was a review of Lakeway P.U.D. Mr.
Syron Watschie and Mr. Carl Dale were present to discuss their
plan. After their presentation, Steve highlighted three main
.points of interest. 1. That Lakeway P.U.D. would probably be
required to pay cash to satisfy their park dedication.. 2.. That
a park is identified in the comprehensive plan in this plat's
• general vacinity. It was mentioned that land directly to the
west would be a likely location for a future neighborhood park.
3. That certain eontxols within the development contract will
be recommended with respect to the private recreation developments
within or near the High density dwelling units. The committee
wishes to have the opportunity to review what ever the developer
proposes for recreational development at the time they decide
what type clientle will be served by the apartments.
The committee also discussed the proposed .trail along the rail-
road. This matter will be reviewed closer and a decision made..
at thier next meeting.
The Committee will review and discuss this matter on March 19,
1980 at which time a recommendation will be made.
Next order of`business'was the review of Park Director's memo
dated February. l3, 1980 „dealing with Fox Run Tevelopment.
Steve reziewed the memo and explained the reason for changing.

80-17 'Upon appropriate motd~.on by Storlie, he moved to recommend to City.
Council the acceptance of cash in lieu of land with the intention
of developing Dodd Park,to serve those neighborhoods' park needs.
Motion uias seconded by Novak..
Motion passed unanimously.

Steve went on and informed Committee that all of their recommen-
-dations had been approved by Council. Those items included the
preliminary engineer's report on the Valley Park Bike Trail for
grant application procedures, Master plans for Valley Lake Park
and orchard Lake Beach,, new park dedication ordinance, Steve's
week at school, etc.
Steve informed-Committee that-the Milwaukee Railroad Co. was
finally going to abandon the railroad from Farmington to the
Scott County border. The final date for abandonment is April 1,
1980.
80-18 Upon appropriate motion by Holston and seconded by Storlie, the
Committee adjourned.
