HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-28-05 WSMinutes • City of Lakeville City Council Work Session Monday, November 28, 2005 4:0o p.m. Marion Conference Room Lakeville City Hall In attendance: Mayor Robert Johnson; Council Members: David Luick, Laurie Rieb, Mark Bellows, and Wendy WuIfF. Also in attendance: City Administrator Steve Mielke, Assistant to City Administrator Brian Anderson, Finance Director Dennis Feller, Planning Director Daryl Morey, Community and Economic Director Dave Olson, Director of Operations and Maintenance Don Volk, Police Chief Steve Strachan, Parks and Recreation Director Steve Michaud, City Engineer Keith Nelson, Fire Chief Scott Nelson, and Liquor Store Director Brenda Visnovec. Strategic Plan Mr. Mielke briefed the City Council on the events that both City Council and staff have taken to create the 2006-2008 Proposed Strategic Plan. He then led the City Council through the vision, mission, and goals and outcomes as outlined on pages i-5 of the strategic plan. Some minor changes were made to the wording of a few goals and outcomes. Mr. Mielke then outlined the financial impacts of the new program options or those items not yet budgeted. The City Council made changes as outlined on the revised program worksheet. City Council then directed staff to make the changes to both the 2006-2008 Proposed Strategic Plan and to the 2006-200 Proposed Budget and bring the 2006-2008 Proposed Strategic Plan at an upcoming City Council meeting. 2006 Proposed Budget and Tax Levy Mr. Feller introduced the 2006-200 Proposed Budget to the City Council and outlined pages i- xxv. The City Council had a few clarifying questions but indicated consensus with the budget items and the total increase in City taxes on Median Value homes, which will be i2.6 percent. City Council directed staff to present the 2006-200 Proposed Budget at an upcoming Council Budget hearing and subsequent Council Meeting for adoption.
