City Council Work Session with Planning Commission
and Economic Development Commission

Members Present: City Council -Mayor Bob Johnson, Laurie Rieb, Wendy Wulff; Planning
Commission -Karl Drotning, Lowell Miller Stolte, Gerald Grenz, Kerrin Swecker, Paul Reuvers;
Dale Detjen, Steve Pattee, Joe Blee; Economic Development Commission -Jim Emond, Barry
Pogatchnik, Jack Matasosky, Steve Gehrke, Bob Brantly, Tom Smith, Dick Miller, Jerry
Erickson, Todd Bornhauser.
Others Present: Steve Mielke, City Administrator; Brian Anderson, Assistant to the City
Administrator; Dave Olson, Community and Economic Development Coordinator; Adam
Kienberger, Economic Development Specialist; Daryl Morey, Planning Director; Allyn Kuennen,
Associate Planner; Rusty Fifield, Consultant, HKGI.
Mayor Johnson called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. After a brief round of introductions, Mr.
Fifield provided an overview of the planning process, including input from the public and the
work accomplished to date. He explained the draft vision and concepts for the future of
downtown Lakeville by stating that it was a collection of ideas, principles, and objectives about
downtown Lakeville. Mr. Fifield then presented to the group two concept plans labeled as
Downtown Park and Main Street Lakeville. A brief discussion took place regarding the likes and
dislikes of each concept and the Mayor commended the work of the taskforce, HKGI, and staff
and thanked the Planning Commission and EDC members for attending. The City Council
members then adjourned for their regularly scheduled City Council Meeting at 6:45 p.m. The
meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
