CITY OF LAKEVILLE
PARK AND RECREATION COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
OCTOBER 3, 1979
7:30 P.M.
Roll call: Present were Rice, Trued, Novak, Storlie, Smith
and Lovelace. Sandy Osterberg represented Steve
Michaud who was at the MRPA Convention.
79 -58 Motion was made by Novak, seconded by Storlie to approve the Sept. 5,
1979 Committee Minutes.
Motion passed.
The Park Director's report was presented by Osterberg:
It was reported that Right -of -way maps were received from the county
regarding the Valley Park bike path. Work can now be underway.
The next item on the Park Director's report was in regard to the Aron
79-59 son Park site Plan. Motion was made by Novak, seconded by Storlie
to recommend to City Council the approval to begin first phase develop-
ment which would include the development of the parking lot and roadways
i and whatever else the 1979 budget would allow.
Motion passed.
The next item discussed was the recommendation by Michaud to purchase
an 8 -foot rake with the remaining balance in the Bunker Hill Bridge
Fund. It was recommended by Lovelace to check into the feasibility
of purchasing a land scraper rather than the rake. Report to be given
at next meeting by the Park director.
The next topic discussed was the purchasing of a lot on the south side
of Orchard Lake Beach. Cost is $6,000.00, size 100' R 50 funds will
come from Park Development fund.
79 -60 Motion was made by Novak, seconded by Rice to recommend to City Council
to purchase the lot.
Motion passed.
It was reported that the 1980 budget cuts were severe, Steve will review
budget at next meeting.

Comment was made on the progress of the building being erected at
Ritter Farm Park. Report to be made by Park director at next meeting.
It was also brought up that hunting violations are continually being
made at Ritter Farm Park. The Park Department has posted "No Hunting"
signs with the hope to alleviate this problem.
Concern was also made regarding the sale of the City Hall property
and the downtown hockey rink. Question was asked if the hockey rink
would be included in the sale and if so would there be another location
for the hockey rink.
The progress made at the Senior Citizens Center was reported by Oster-
berg. The Center will begin operating in October, hours are 10 -3 P.M.
Monday, Wednesday and Fridays.
79 -61 Motion was made by Rice, seconded by Storlie to adjourn the meeting.
Motion passed.
