HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-01 MINUTES OF THE LAKEVILLE PARK RECREATION COMMITTEE MEETING WEDNESDAY 1 JUNE 1 977 -ANNUAL PARK TOUR MUNICIPAL BUILDING AIRLAKE INDUSTRIAL PARK Between 25 and 30 Committee members and their guests made a two-hour tour of a number of both developed and undeveloped park lands. It was a tour of approximately 35- to 40-some miles. Park Director spoke very interestingly as the tour proceeded. The bus trip lasted two hours. Upon returning to the Municipal Building, a coffeebreak was enjoyed by all, with baked cookies brought by D. Christoffers. The guests had been given name tags and everyone mingled and conversed for an hour. o g those ,Administrator Pat McGarvey, a large number the Natural attending were Adm of members from Am n h se m h al Resources Committee and the Youth Advisory Board. The Planning Commission was also represented and both local newspapers sent delegates. Ma Mako and Mrs. Mako, aY G. Gorse and one of the police coffeebreak. dispatchers, came for the Councilwoman M. Curry came on the tour and Participated in the evening. S. Michaud aided by T. Farrell, had an interesting display of posters, etc., posted in Council Chambers to be viewed by all. All Park Rec Committee members were present this evening. Even the weather co-operated and was beautiful for the evening--it had been storming earlier in the afternoon. From an interested on-looker's viewpoint, I think the tour and the evening was very successful. _-M. Kl A short meeting was begun by N. 3iright at 9:20 FM. Answering roll call were Enright, Christoffers, Lovelace, Nelson, and Trued. (Lange had been present for the tour and coffeebreak.) Chairwoman Enright complimented Steve Michaud on doing such a fantastic job of tour-guiding and visual displays, and Dee Christolbrs on the refreshments. 77.36 Motion by Nelson, seconded by Trued to approve the minutes of the May 18th meeting. Motion carried. S. Michaud gave a short Park director's report concerning a master plan reviewal of Murphy- Hannreh an Park, time slot of approximately 45 minutes, to be the Committee's second meeting in July, which will be July 20th; next meeting he would like to go into some very fine comments he had received on the letter on I'Vandalisat', which had been written by C. Trued. On the Council agenda for the night of June 6th, are items on "curfew" and "park dedication ordinance". Before this time, two people will try to meet with p. McGarvey concerning the ordinance. C. Trued is very interested in the curfew discussion, but will not be able to attend the meeting. An item for next agenda will be further discussion of fee schedules for use in Lakeville Parks. Terri Farrell was welcomed. Her return working for Lakeville Parks will be full-time assistant to Steve, for this year. C. Trued spoke concerning naming the lake at Valley Park, Stonebridge. That is the only Addition at Valley Park that has a name, as well as a numeral. The 6th Addition is known as Stonebridge, and the lake lies in this Addition. N. Enright reported that Mayor Mako, Attorney Farrell, and Mr. P. Friedges have met concerning bike trail through lands to Lake Marion Antlers Park, etc. Everyone is agreeable, but want to be very sure that the property owners are favorable. Mr. Mako is volunteering to go door to door on this matter. If they are agreeable, funding will be sought. H. Lovelace will report on tour of Lac Lavon next meeting. N. Enright will report on Farmington ordinance on vandalian next meeting. 77- Meeting adjourned--Trued and Lovelace. Motion carried. Respectfully submitted, D. Christoffers, Secretary mek
