WEDNESDAY 8-.00 PM 4 MAY 1977
MUNICIPAL BUILDING AIRLAKE INDUSTRIAL PARK
When Chair. N. Enright called the meeting to order, Ehright, Lange, Lovelace,
Christoffers, and Trued answered roll call. L. Nelson had relayed the message that he
was ill.
Corrections of April 20th minutes were: add word "Parks" to tour theme,
and delete the sentence concerning D. Licht on page 2.
77-30 Motion by Trued, seconded by Lovelace, to apprive the minutes of the meeting
held April 20th, with the two above-noted corrections. Motion carried.
Park Director S. Michaud gave his report. It concerned development of Dakota
Heights park, summer program, CETA funding, and fishing bridge.
A cost figure of $5 to $7,000 was quoted as the price of developing a park in
Dakota HeiZLts--an area of 6 to 7 acres, rough-gradinga and chucking in with black dirt.
He will try to do it at much less cost by development stages, and feels that/1 a high
priority.
qEE2E 2rograms are progressing--June 13th is the beginning o date. The St. Paul
Musicians nion Assn, Loc+73, his been suggested as being a contact for bands at low
rates. C9 TA fund have way aid.
Fi*#g bridge is in operation. The DNR is going to fund 5U%- Everything is
completed now for operating the valley Park pools. The plan is to have them full of water
by the end of the week. He is now in the process of interviewing summertime help.
77.31 Motion by Trued, seconded by Lange, to accept Bob Perzelts lEtter, re donation
of trees. Motion carried.
Newsletter report will be written tomorrow (May 5th). In the Minnesota Quarterly
there will be a whole article written by Steve Michaud, "Lakeville's Attempt To Survivell.
Regarding bike trails, Mr. Mako is going to meet with Mr. Farrell and property
owners next week. N. Enright will report on this at next meeting.
Tentative Planning for citizens' meetings in September is to be on members'
minds. There is a possibility of three areas: orchard Lake will include Oak Shores,
Lake Marion, and Dakota Heights. The Valley Park area will be planned, meeting-wise,
by C. Trued, and the downtown area will be of interest to D. Christoffers and J. Lange.
S. Michaud and C. Trued will work together on listing the major actions of
1976, purposes and objectives of Park Rec Committee long range plans, including the
topic of I'Vandalisn".
There is planned a 12 hour tour of specific Parks for June lst, to be narrated
by Steve Michaud. Twenty copies of comprehensive plan on parks facilities are to be
prepared, and twenty copie of "Goals, Policies, and Procedures". Name tags are suggested.
D. Christoffers will take care of matter of cookies, etc. There will be approximately a hr.
of "Questions and Answersif period, to be followed by Committee's regular meeting. Invitation
letter is to be mailed by May 15th. A few days following this, J. Lange is to contact
members of Natural Resources Committee, D. Christoffers the Planning Commission, a nd Len
Nelson the Council--as an invitational follow-up.
C. Trued.suggested the name of Stonebridge Park, for what is commonly called,
O f Valley Lake It.
77.32 Motion by Trued, seconded by Christoffers, that the newly acquired park at
Valley Park be named t Stonebridge Park?. Motion carried, with N. Enright
stating that '!I think the citizens are familiar with 'Valley Lake'.
J. Lange is asked to give two or three examples of how the percentages apply to
the formula for ascertaining park land, etc., at the next council meeting.
J. Lamont's letter of resignation was accepted.
Development Of Policy manual was discussed. Long and short range plans of the
CaPital Improvements program are to be discussed further, and will be an agenda item.
77-33 Motion came at 1 0:30 PM to adjourn the meeting, by Trued, seconded by Christoffers.
Motion carried.
