HomeMy WebLinkAbout01-05 E i CITY OF LAKEVILLE PARK k RECREATION COMMITTEE MET WEDNESDAY 5 JANUARY 1977 MUNICIPAL BUILDING 8:00 PM AIRLAKE INDUSTRIAL PARK Chairman Nelson called the meeting g to order at 8 PM. Park Director. S. Miehaud also in attendance. Answering roll were Nelson, Enright, Lange, Christoffers, Trued,�� and Lamont., Lovelace absent. The terms of office had been renewed at the December 20th Council meeting for N. Enright, J. Lange, (Chr stoffervIs term not expired until 1978. 77.1 Nelson and Christoffers nominated N. Enright for the office of Chairman 4 a Lange motioned that nominations be closed.' 77.2 Enright and Christoffers made motion that J. Lange be nominated for the office of Vice Chairman Lamont moved that nominations cease. 77.3 Trued and Lamont motioned that the office of secretar be filled by D. Christoffers Lange moved that nominations cease. The nominations for sub committee chairmen will not be made at this time. 77.4 Lamont and Trued moved and seconded that "since only one name for each office had been submitted, 0 a I" I it �cretary`be instructed to cast unanimous allot for all three offices Motion carried. The minutes of December 8th were approved, subject to the corrections as appear on the attached sheet, upon motion by Lamont and Trued. Motion carried. *A reviewal of council meeting of Dec. 6th was made-- with'no directive from Council being found,-except above. L. Nelson had attended the meeting on the 20th, and so gave a report of that meeting. Matter of developing at Antlers Park had received Council attention. Based on a split vote, one member reasoning that Committee should ask 'for bond issue and five -year plan, the application for Antlers Park improvement on a 50/50 basis will be pursued, with State sharing funding. S. Michaud began his Park Direetor*s report p by relating two .instances of citizens 1 asking for skating facilities on Ixonia Av. (Maplewood Estates), both on private property. 77.5 Motion by Trued, seconded by Christoffers, "in view of the 'fact that the Park Director has had inquiries and re property for ice-skating quests for flooding on both tax delinquent and private g purposes, I move that we request City Council to direct legal counsel to explore liability involved in any positions that P &,R Committee might adopt creating such ice skating areas: Motion carried. S. Michaud further reported that Mrs. Pieri had done extensive research and has found information on County level that their department would not care to get involved` because of the problems, but thinks the State could. ,There are state -owned lands that would allow this _type of activity. Nelson spoke asking, "do you need the result of :the attorney's findings in order, to make a recommendation to Council '2 S. Michaud will ask x V to have this an agenda item for Council meeting the 17th of January. S. Michaud reported that Burnsville's Northview skating facilities are open to fi Lak *Ile people, as well as several other rinks.' 77.6 Nelson and Lamont moved and seconded, "P R Committee requests the Council to. authorize the Financial Director to evaluate the feasibility of financial alternatives to implementing the P R Cbmmittee's yea 5- '.dear Capital Improvement s"', Program, as p rev i ously x` oul submitted to Council in 1975 and 1 6. 97 Motion_ (1) P 5 Jan-177 P R COMMITTEE 5 JANUARY 197 L. Nelson would like the minutes to reflect a compliment from this Committee on the work of S. Michaud and Park Maintenance on the skating rinks. J: Lamont was appointed chairman of committee working with athletics. S. Michaud was asking him to get some ground work done at this time with softball leagues for next season.. Michaud's Trued's andefingw■bft findings on park dedication will be an agenda item for next meeting. S.,Michaud's bike trail report will be changed to February 2nd meeting and not January 19th meeting.' It was felt that papers should be especially notified of this as some citizens have indicated an interest in this topic and its meeting date..
