Vice- Chairperson N. Enright called the meeting to order at 8 PM. Enright,
Christoffers, Trued, Lovelace, answered roll Nelson, Lamont and Lange were absent.
76.28 Motion to approve minutes of April 21st meeting was made by Trued Lovelace.
Motion carried.
76.29 M to approve minutes of May 5th meeting was made by Christoffers- Trued.
Motion carried.
The Council meeting minutes of May 3rd were reviewed.
It was decided to ask for June meeting dates of the 2nd, 16th, and 30th.
The Park Director, S. Michaud, began his report. It was: (1) Park cash
or land donation had been discussed. Other communities are asking 12% and it is
suggested that Lakeville do the same, where there is to be a cash donation, (2)
park maintenance is completely Parks' category now, (3). budget has been reviewed
and is found O.K., (4) summer programs have been completed, (5) lake zoning is
all set for this season on Lake Marion, (6) courtesy tickets are a possibility for.
parking at Antlers Park, (7) land at fishing bridge, (Ramberg's) is being donated
to the public for fishing purposes, (8) proposal of development, Cedar Highlands,
located just south of Valley Park, was explained. This is a development of
Mutual Land of Owatonna. Land is near the watertower at Valley Park. 265 Single-
family dwellings are proposed, 14 4- plexes, on 130 acres. It was the feeling
that park proposal should be money instead of land, or perhaps, money and land,
since the project is large, (combination of both), (9) a walkway is being built
between the pavilion and the rest rooms at Antlers Park, (10) public access
boat launchings on Lake Marion were discussed, (11) Ray Skelton is wishing to sell
quarry on edge of Apple Valley and Lakeville- -will do landscaping, plant trees-
possibU ity of at least one beach- -and wishes to sell to County, (12) MICA is ex-
ploring possibilities of using Orchard Lake Beach, perhaps every other Friday
for five times. A letter waiving responsibility of the City in case of mishap
will be asked, (13) there will be an enlarged parking area at Orchard bake Beach
now that the house has been removed, (14) S. Michaud will check on installing the
playground equipment at Lakeville Fulls.
'16.:30 Trued- Christoffers motioned to receommend to Council that courtesy
parking tickets be provided for special groups for ,Antlers Park parking
lot, to be administered at the discretion of the Park Department.
Lovelace, upon discussion, wished some means of making this courtesy
known as Lakeville- oriented groups, but this was not added in the motion,
as some people live outside of Lakeville, but work in Lakeville others
Live in Lakeville, out attend church outside the area. Original motion
carried unanimously.
"Goals, Policies, Procedures" will be reviewed next meeting the next
meeting will be Wed., June 2nd., -the second. meeting, June 36th.
It will be a meeting of working on policy manual
for 1977, develop a work sheet for tae coming year.
H. Lovelace asked if groups after tournaments would return picnic tables
to the picnic grounds. S. Michaud said this would be done.
Inquiry was made as to Independence Park in Valley Park. The reply,
"does not belong to Lakeville any longer It was asked that plat no. and section
of Valley Park 8th Addn be checked.
