WEDNESDAY APRIL 21, 1976
MUNICIPAL BUILDING AIRLAKE PARK
Chairman L. Nelson called the meeting to order at 8 PM. Answering roll were: Nelson
Enright, Trued, Lange, Lovelace and Lamont-- Christoffers was absent.
76.22 Motion by Lamont Lovelace to approve the minutes of the April 7th
meeting. Motion carried.
Minutes of the Council meetings held March 15th, 29th, and April 5th were reviewed.
Pastor Trued is willing to continue representing the Park Rec Committee on the
Advisory Council.
Members wish to review the preliminary plat of the Golden Leaf development on
Co. Rd 5.
S. Michaud gave his Park Directors report, concerning (1) Boy Scout project at
A ronson Park la ndscapin g the f lagpole area, has been completed. A six -foot s nice
tree will be planted as an Arbor Day celebration. This tree will be known as the
Am. Rev. Tree of Lakeville, as part of B icenntennial plans, and will be registered this
way. The ceremony will be on April 30th at 4:30 PM, and all are welcome. (2) In
regard to our p ark map information brochur for reference and planning, information will
be sought from other communities on what they have done, by N. Enright for next meeting.
(3) the mini -bus has been arranged for next meeting, May 6th for members to make tour
of Lakeville Parks. M. Klotz and J. Lamont have offered to drive. People who wish to
tour will meet at 6 PM at the Municipal Building, with the regular meeting to be at the
Municipal Bldg at 8 PM. N. Enright asked if the land on northern Orchard Lake that has
possible softball field possibilities could be toured at this time as well. (4) planning
of bike trails has been progressing well. Meetings have been held with Mr. Friedges
and Mr. Hammer who own land along suggested route from Downtown Lakeville to Antlers Park.
Steve will come to next meeting with all details. Some type of barrier between the
trails and the homes is asked. Mr. Lamont will obtain names of people living on his
street who will be affected by this trail. It was suggested that a trail to the new
High School, soon, would be very welcome. (5) Valley Park Swim Pools are being planned,
scheduling, etc. L. Nelson asked about selling memberships. Council will set ,charges,
and final plans. (6) Softball field are in good shape, except for No. 8 at Aronson Park
which is wet at present time. (7) An attorney is looking into the matter of Fishing
B (8) Work is progressing at Ri tter Farm Park getting ready for se edling s which
should be arriving any day. (9) Equipment for Lake Hill park has been all put
together and is awaiting go -ahead on installation according to when water and sewer will
not have to tear up the area. (10) S ite improvement at Dakot Heights which is part of
this year's budgetted program, "depends on turf. Can't do anything until there is strong
turf." (11) Upper part of Ar onson Par has been s eeded (12) G olf ball are being
driven at Aro Park but no damage, so far, has been noticed. J. Lamont made suggestion
that some particular section of the park might be set aside for this, but not so it would
interfere with softball games and practices.
Mr. Wes Magalis was present and gave a report on Lakeville Hockey Boosters Program.
$10,000, approximately, was spent and raised on hockey program this past year. It has
operated in the "black with about $700 now in their treasury. There were between 150
and 160 kids skating this year. A place to store equipment is now being asked. It is
presently being stored in a private basement, but people need the use of their basement,
too. This equipment has a valuation of around $20,000.
76.23 Nelson- Lamont made motion that the Park Director explore secure areas
for the storage of athletic equipment. Motion passed -all members voting
"aye as roll call had been made, (in that order.)

Shading of ice on north end of hockey rinks, next to boards, is suggested -as ice is
in poor condition there.
S. Michaud askes that all people who wish to be on agenda check with him.
76.24 Motion to adjourn the meeting by Lamont- Enright. Motion carried.
