MUNICIPAL BUILDING AIRLAKE INDUSTRIAL PK
The meeting was called to order by Chairman L. Nelson at 8;00 FX. Answering
roll call were: Nelson, IIZright, Lange, Lamont, Lovelace. Christoffers and
Trued were absent.
Enright -Lange moved to accept minutes of meeting held August 27th. Motion
carried.
Reviewal of Council meeting' minutes of September 2nd and 8th was made by
Lange and Nelson. There will be a'hockey rink at the new school.
Mr Wes Magalis was present, representing Hockey Boosters. He told of rummage
sale they are planning and asked for support. Also, he asked for a hockey rink
at Orchard Lake, as there are many interested skaters and transportation: is a
problem. A temporary rink at Orchard Lake School has approval of school officials.
Mr. Magalis has looked at the property and feels same grading is necessary to make
it level enough for skating- -also brought up the matter of proper lighting. P R
members are asking that Mr. Magalis,be kept posted on what happens in this instance.
J. Lange reported that farming operation and rental in Ritter Farm Park will
not be discontinued. $2,500 is the rental fee here.
125. It was reported that a hearing on the budget will be soon. Diright made motion
that P R Committee would like to meet with Council when they do and review
preliminary budget. Lamont 2nd. Motion carried.
Mr. H. Malmanger discussed plans for a land development of property north of
Village Pantry, just off Hwy 50, containing 14z acres. His proposal for park
property is the land lying just so uth`of Hershey Park, in Park Terrace.; This is
wet area.
126. Lamont made motion "we accept Mr. H. Malmanger's Plat Plan #2 for study."
Nelson 2nd. It will contain approximately 27 lots. Motion carried.
Park Director. S. Michaud gave his report. Community School Coordinator and
Park Director have been finalizing fall programs- -.fall classes, etc. An archery
club and range is planned. Leagues in broomball,'man's and women's basketball,
are planned; there will be an adult dance and as teen dance. The teen dance will
have music furnished by Butch Greaser and The 'Hoods, which had been so successful
this summer. There is the possibility of bus trip when #Chicago" is in Mpls.
Cross- country ski program has been accelerated this year- -the Central U.S.A.
Jr. Championship races will be here this year. This involves contestants 8 -18
years of age from all over the U.S. Olympic Coaches will be meeting here Oct. 4th
and 5th. A request has been made for a pleasure skating rink landscaped in
Valley Park at Dodd Trail. Park. The JC's are planning on building a "shelterp
16 x 40 in Aronson Park, to cost about $8,000. Refreshments will be served from
this building as well.
A committee copy of "Capital Improvements Program" is requested by P R-- also
if possible, each member would like to have one.
S. Michaud told of progress on LAWCON funding. Lakeville contributed a total of
9 requests. Metro Council has chosen a list of 30 cities to consider. Lakeville
is 27th on the list. Antlers Park application was given the highest rating of
our requests.
Playground equipment for Lakeville Hills is to be ordered.

S. Michaud also reported that new roads at Aronson Park have been laid.
They will make for better accessibility there.
J. Lamont said that one of the fields at Aronson Park is in a #wavy" condition
and needs flattening before youngsters start udng it for football, as a safety
precaution.
Our attorney says -,a land trade at Ritter Farm Park with Mr. Ramberg, as tie
suggested at last meeting August 27th, can not be made. Park Director did report,
however, tnat owner of land south of Ritter Farm Park, Mr. H. Field, gives his
unqualified permission for snowmobile -use of his land.
On September 18th, 7 P.M., there will oe a joint meeting on the subject of
tennis courts, between Council. and School Board.
The budget was discussed. Chairman Len Nelson, P R Committee, would like to
have copies of itemized break -down of the Administrator's proposed budget of
also, would like copies for all P R members.
L. Nelson reported that meeting of Dakota Co. Park Committee will ue rescheduled.
Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Lamont- Enright at lOsO5 P.M. Motion
carried.
