The meeting: was called to order by Vice- Chairperson N. Enright
at 8 P.M. Present were: Enright, Lovelace, Trued, Lange. Christoffers
arrived later. Lamont and Nelson were absent. Park Rec. Director
s. Michaud was also present.
Trued -Lange moved and seconded approval of the July 23rd: minutes
The Committee reviewed the Council meeting minutes of July 21 and
August 4.
S. Michaud to receive copy of letter written to Twin City Radio
Controllers.
Director Michaud gave his report. In meetings he has had with the
snowmobilers, they stand firm on using Ritter Park. S. Lichaud
received notifications that the Lakeville application for LAWCON funds
will be reviewed. A representative from Metro Council Open Space
Division was in Lakeville to review the sites for the funding. She
complimented our parks highly, and said they were well maintained.
Ko. 7 ballfield has been put in at Aronson Park. Roads and parking
lots will be started this fall.
A donation of $250.00 from Bonestroo Assoc. was received for park
development. The final check of 700 from the Ski Grant was received,
$0 5 08.40 went to the Ski Club 0218 'went to the city.
S. Michaud mentioned a proposal from Oscar Ramberg in which Mr. Ramberg
would life to trade land he owns adjacent to Ritter Farm Park for
Ritter Farm Park property.
S. Michaud recommended to the Park Rec. Committee that farming be
stopped at the Ritter Park for these reasons. 1. With the condition of
fields, it is hard to grade for the trails. 2. Impossible to set up
a permanent trail. 3. the area could be made into a prairie.
Seven people from the Hockey Boosters were p -1 Director Michaud
reported the result of a meeting between himself, the hockey Boosters,
and members of the maintenance department. These following items
would be covered the the maintenance budget. Snowblower, 2 more
first aid kits, telephones in warming houses, flasher to be borrowed
from Apple Valley on a trial basis, sanitary facilities. The goals
have been repaired and slowly we are going into round posts for goals.
The high school rink will be regraded, and the bank cut down with an
experiment with gravel. All the fencing will be repaired. Jim
Robinette will modify the broom tractor.
Pete Martin stated the school district has 0000 available for a
new hockey rink at the new high school. School students will help put
boards together, Hockey Boosters want funds from the city to finish
the project. Pete Martin said the school will spend the w3000 and pick
up the utility costs. Pete martin is open to the idea of a portable
rink for Orchard Lake School.
121. Motion by Trued that the Perk Recreation Committee recommend to
Council up to matching School District funds be approria.ted to build
a warming house and light installation at the jockey facilities at the
new high school site, some of the funds to be from the Park Rec.
Budget. Lovelace seconded. Motion carried.

Pete Martin, Donna Rollins and Barb Bell officers in the tennis club)
were present to discuss the strong interest in playing tennis in
Lakeville. They have 50 members in the tennis club. 300 people
took tennis lessons this summer.
Lakevlle has four completed tennis courts at Valley Park, and five
tennis courts will be done this fall at new high school. The
tennis club would like to see four new tennis courts in the village
proper. These could be on school property. School would possibly
pay half on the 1976 -1977 budget.
Dee Christoffers was asked to form a committee of city council
person, school board member, Steve Michaud and Pete Martin to look
into the cost of the Lakeville School District and the Village of
Lakeville building tennis courts together at the Middle School site.

Community School Directer, Pete Martin presented his budget. The
Community School Program is growing, and much of the program is
paid for in User fees. The deficit is to be divided by a 3 /y ration.
The city pays and the school district pays
The Community School Budget is deferred to the next meeting.
Jim Robinette was present to explain the maintenance budget. The
following items were done by the maintenace department the past year.
100 signs were put up, mostly designating parks. A life guard stand
was built at Antler's park, also the Lagoon boat launch, posts for
parking areas, and security lights installed.
Aronson Park: doubled the fields, and in the fall the parking lots
are to be started.
Valley Park: Last fall a hockey rink, pleasure skating rink, warming
house, trees, and lights were installed.
Orchard Lake Beach: all new posts were put in and sand was put on
the beach area. 100 new trash barrels were placed in the parks.
Three acres was seeded in Bassett Addition. Nine acres was seeded in
Valley Park near the school, Twenty acres in Aronson Park will be
plowed and planted in alfalfa.
Jim Robinette discussed the idea of setting funds aside for development
in budget to get maximum development and hold maintenance costs down.
122. Motion by Trued that the Park Recreation Committee recommend
to Council a line item in the city budget of 410,000.00 as the budget
for our Park Recreation Development Program for 1976. Christoffers
seconded. All ayes. Motion Carried.
C. Trued will attend the Council meeting on September 2nd.
