Nelson at 8 P.M. Present were: Nelson, Daright Lovelace, Trued, Lange. Lamont and Christoffers were absent. Park Rec Director S. Michaud was also present. page 2 of the ,July 9th minutes is to be copied and sent to all members with them minutes. Corrections of July 9th minutes are: $1,300 had been taken in at Antlers Park up to June 2nd. Out of this total, $720 had been collected from non- residents-- approxi- mately $3 on the 4th of July, was the figure given by S. Michaud. The minutes of July 9th were approved with these changes and corrections. Reviewal of Council meeting minutes of July 14th was scanned, but there was nothing to do with P R. L. Nelson gave a report of Council meeting held July 21st. Director Michaud gave his report. It concerned LAWCON funding, receipts at Antlers Park, summer Activities Days, special events days, teen dance, Sunday evening concerts, ,bus trips. Requests for LAWCON funds went in on time. $10,000 had been asked for Ritter Faxm Park duping, $3 or $33,000 for Antlers Park, and Mr. Hogan had applied for $500,000 for rip rap at Lake Marion. (This is improvement of shore line.) It generally takes about three months to get answers from requests such as this. As of July 16th, there have been 800 resident parking stickers sold at Lake tarion Antlers Park for a total of $400; 408 season stickers at $2 each for a total of $916; and 22 non- resident season stickers at $10 each for a total of $220. This makes a total of $1, Director has deposited $1, of this amount. The $49 def *it is in voided, or destroyed, etc., stickers. In all the other phases of his summer program, too, Steve said they "had surpassed his'goals S. Michaud will prepare "hand out" material at next meeting on equipment, -etc. that has been purchased, and its cos t. There will be a meeting on August 5th of Park Director, PW Director, school officials, Lakeville Boosters, J. Lamont, if he is in town, and L. Nelson, to discuss and plan winter hockey program. There had been a meeting of Dakota County Trail Assn. that was attended by Jerry Clay, Chuck Lowry, and Steve Michaud. $800 -plus was approved as a grant for ski trails. Steve reported that new packets for ski and snowmobile trail applications should be received soon.' S. Michaud will include a copy of his proposed budget sheet to go to members with these minutes. C. Trued presented his written report on coordinating snowmobile and cross- country ski trails proposal and recommendation. A copy is attached to these minutes. He suggested further study be done by committee on perimeter trails around Ritter Farm Park. BUl. Stackhouse, Joe Doerfler, and Chas. Hess, of the Snowmobile group were present. They were speaking for "existing trails as these are the ones that have been applied for to obtain grant money -a trail program is set up on a one -year basis." J/ Doerfler suggested #keep the three we have now and make change later S. Michaud said "after meeting with members of both groups, he would then send his report to Council. Motion by Trued that Council be asked to publize and adopt these recommendations and procedures (that are attached to these minutes). Motion died for lack of a 2nd. 119. Motion by Nelson "with reference to report on coordination of snowmobile and cross country trails, move that Park and Rea Committee endorse their efforts to date and reflect support of the Lake Marion proposal, with a request that the groups continue with their study of the perimeter trail around Ritter Farm Park". Phright seconded. "Aye", Nelson, Phright, Lovelace, Trued, Lange. Motion carried. (The change that is foreseen is from Minnreg Road, going north to orchard Lake.) N. Enright gave a report on meeting she attended in Eagan on July 21st of Dakota County Park Board. (Bad Alich of Lakeville Parks Dept. also attended this meeting.) Slides and talk on bicycle routes and pathways, etc., and baseball fields, was presented by Shiely Co. &right suggested that a sub- committee be appointed to work on bike trails for Lakeville and draw up a comprehensive plan. September 22nd is suggested date for Lakeville P R to host Dakota County Municipal Parks Assn. meeting at Antlers Park, at 7 PM. Details will be worked out by Nelson, Baright, Michaud. Nancy will check with Steve and talk to Chuck Lowry. Nothing to do about park consideration in Dakota Hgts. 7th Addn. at this time. Planning Commission voted to deny re- zoning and Council has tabled the matter. L. Nelson voiced the opinion that that there was a need to look at holding ponds all the way to Valley Park, in connection with park consideration. 120. Motion by Earight to request Council to ask Director Jim Robinette to investigate why the pieces of blacktopping from roads have been dumped on Orchard Lake Beach property. The dumping has blocked the lake- drainage under Judicial Road and is an extremely unsightly mess. Trued seconded. Motion carried. (Nancy will call Jima..) "Committee members should take a close look at what's in our`5 -yr program and •previous considerations for 1974, and explore the parks designated to them to see what is needed said Chairman Nelson. Earlier in the evening, S. Michaud had also asked that members come to budget meeting with complete park improvements, like equip- ment repairs, needs a slide, etc.," that each wo uld like to have considered. Each member is asked to tour his /her designated parks by next week, with a meeting on the 30th, which will be a work session on parks. This meeting is called for 7:30 P.M. It is felt that P R Committee's actions should be reported to Council at their meeting on August,4th, although there is nothing that we know of that requires Council action at this time. C. Trued will attend Council meeting on August 4th in case Council will have any questions to ask of this Committee. Motion to adjourn- -12 M -by Laright and Trued. Motion carried.
