LAKEVILLE MUNICIPAL BLDG.
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 15, 1 975
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Len Nelson. Answering roll were
Nelson, Lamont, Lange, Christoffers absent were Enright, Lovelace, Ballinger.
Minutes of the December 11th meeting had been received and read by all members.
Nelson and Lamont moved and seconded approval of these minutes. Motion carried.
Welcome to two new members of P R Committee was extended by Chairman Len Nelson.
Minutes of The Lakeville Council Meetings of December 16tI January 13th were
reviewed by the P R. Item #74,710, December 16th minutes, was discussed at some
length.
#65 Motion by Lamont "recommendation to Council that -P R Committee would
like the opportunity to review, consider, and study Item #7+.710, per-
taining to T. Davis property at Lake Marion, (December 16th minutes),
prior to City's purchase. Nelson seconded. Motion carried.-

#66 Motion by Lamont that.P R Committee wishes to authorize SnoFest
to utilize 167th Street Park at Valley Park, Valley Park #6 Park,
Ritter 'Farm Park, also all hockey rinks for their programs and events
for dates of February 7, 8, and 9,-- 1975.. Chirstoffers seconded. Motion
carried.
Report by Steve Michaud, Park Director, was given. It covered the following:
(1) state of the hockey rinks and their maintenance. (Public Works Director
J. Robinette was present, ,also, 'and stated these rinks are broomed every after-
noon. His idea is to fasten shovels, with brushes attached for the use of„
skaters using the rinks after 4 P.M when 'they wish to clean the ice.), (2) spoke
of desk phone, (3) memberships to park publications an(I issues to P R
members, (4) manpower programs accelerated, (5) next summer's park's program
might be changed to programs three times a week, rather than every day -and at
three or four places throughout the City, (6) Garden Club will plant flowers'
in all parks and downtown Lakeville, (7) r^astic -type signs will be made here
and placed (8) winter programs have had large response and are done co- ordinately
with Community- School programs,' (9) youth hostels for Lakeville is in planning
stage, (10) cross country ski program has had immense response, (11) vandalism-
is on the increase and is a grave problem
(12) acquisition 'of swimming pools at Valley Park. (See Item #67.)
#67 In the January 13th Council minutes, Item #75.67, P R has been directed,
jointly with Park Director, to investigate possible purchase of swimming
pools at Valley Park- -with recommendation by Council's February 3rd meeting.
Park Director was asked by L. Nelson to obtain Engineer's report made on
these pools. Lamont asked that Michaud try to put together three cost
figures before P R meeting on January 29th. These costs are:, purchase,
restoration, and maintenance. Christoffers had questions on dimensions,
depth, and volume. Fencing was also mentioned. When asked if he would
work with these pools, Park Director stated "if they are in our realms,
I would be able to take over
#68 "Park Recreation' Committee recommends to Council, as a resolution,
Policy No. 1, which is Goals, Responsibilities, and Procedures Document,
to replace any previous document governing said goals, responsibilities,
and procedures. Second was by Lange. Motion carried.
Motion to adjourn, 11 P.M., by Nelson- Lange. Motion carried.
