LAKEVILLE MUNICIPAL BUILDING
AUGUST 28, 1974
Members of P R toured prospective park land beginning at 7%,00 PM,
with Mr. C. C. Streefland, Mayor Jensen, and Councilmen Binond and Brandes.
A report on this tour will be given next meeting. September filth.
All members were present and answering 'roll call when Chairman Len
Nelson called the meeting to order at 8:00 P M. The following corrections
were to be made in Items 33 and 34 of the August 14th minutes: In #33,
"the boundary of the land considered on the west should be determined by a
Line drawn by extending the western bourndary line of Ritter Farm Park north
to Minnreg Road and further suggest the Metropolitan Council organize
this purchase h Murphy- Hannrehan project: -LeRoy Also, #34, lots "dezorip
Lion'should be, Lots one through seven in Block 8 and Lots one through
thirteen in Block 7, LeRoy. Lamont noted than motion made Item. 32b re-
garding soft -ball diamonds, etc., was not on the agenda for tae September 3rd
Council meeting, and asked if it could be attended to. With these corrections
and note, LeRoy and Enright made and seconded the motion to approve the
August 14th minutes. Motion carried.
39. Report was made by N. Enright concerning action taken on Brookview Prelim-
inary August 15th, Planning Commission meeting, by P R members Enright,
Erickson, LeRoy, and Lamont. Brookview Plat Phase I development was given
P R approval provided there was a development contract and lots described
in above paragraph,corrections, #34, be held in escrow.
L. Nelson asked that as many members as possible attend the September 3rd
Council meeting. LeRoy was asked to contact the City Administrator with -F
R recommendation to hire a Lakeville Park and Recreation Director.
40. Members Erickson and Enright gave a report on a meeting concerning bicycle
trails they had attended, promoted by the Dept. of Natural Resources. All
surrounding communities, Mendota Heights, Burnsville, Apple Valley, Rose-
mount,--had representatives at this meeting. The suggestion was made
that our County Commissioners should receive letters from us that "these,
(bicycle trails), are important to our community Lamont made suggestion
that "the City Council pursue the development of a Bicycle Safety Program
as an initial approach of our bicycle trails." Nelson, "assigrn two committee
members to make some contacts with the Chief of Police, Pete Martin, Steve
Michaud, etc., and come back with a possible program." Erickson will do
some research, with the Police Dept-
Nelson motioned that "our representative to Advisory Council bring up the
matter of bicycle safety implications for implementing a bicycle trail
system in Lakeville." Lamont seconded. Motion carried.
LeRoy and Lamont moved and seconded.to adjourn the meeting. Motion
carried.
