HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-26 PARK RECREATION COMMITTEE April 26, 1972 Is Meeting was called to order by Herb Lambert. Members present:Lovelace, Johnson, Lambert, Erickson, Hrkal, Austad. 1. Mr. Ross Bassett was present regarding the 21/2 acre park land donation. Motion by Johnson, seconded by Lovelace to accept the agreement made between Mr. Bassett, council and Mayor Aronson as now receiving 13/4 acre donation in addition to 3/4 acre previously donated. Motion carried. 2. Jackson Heights land donation was discussed and tabled until furthur study. 3. Ritter Property: Committee members were informed of meetings involving Marion Lake Park on May 2, 3, 5th. Motion by ,Johnson, seconded by Austad for a vote of confidence for acquisition of Marion Park land. Motion carried. 4. Orchard Lake Park Equipment Needs: 1. Eight new fire places 2. 150 redwood posts 4ft. apart to confine area to picnic area on outside roadway. 3. Public access needs cleaning up. 4. Tables at fire places. 5. Park Terrace Area In Regard to Petition: 1. Playground seeded with a playground type of seed. 2. Teeter- totter and swing seats repaired and painted. 3. Asphalt under basketball net. 4. Picnic table placed next to swing set. 5. Tree or two near picnic table. Park Terrace 2nd Addition: 1. Repair seat of four seated horse. 6. Motion by Austad to accept the Lions offer to help take care of equipment in the Marrinan Park area. Motion carried. 7. Park Naming: Motion by Austad, seconded by Erickson to accept the following names for parks. As new parks are added names will be submitted at that time. 1. 209th St. Holt Ave "Maplewood Park" 2. 208th St. Holiday Ave "Terrace Park" 3. 208th St. Hershey Ave Hershey Park" 4. East side of Hull Ave.(Buffer Zone) "Jaycee Park" 5. 70 Acre Park "Greenwood Park" 6. Marrinan Park---------------- "Lions Park" 7. Orchard Lake Beach------------ -Orchard Beach" 8. Orchard Lake Park------------ "Orchard Lake Park" 9. Area Near Under Pass--------- "Lakeside Park" 10. Crystal Lake Area------------ "Oak Shores Park" 11. Valley Park------------------ "All Parks blamed After Valleys" 1 PARK RECREATION COMMITTEE April 26, 1972 8. Valley Park Needs: Motion by Lambert, seconded by Austad for gravel, backstops, fencing along sides, seeded, fireplace, and picnic tables. Motion carried.
